DJ AM “wanted” to die, according to new reports.
AM — whose real name is Adam Goldstein — was found dead in his New York City apartment at 5:20 p.m. Friday. An autopsy was inconclusive, but the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office expects to find out what killed him in a few weeks when toxicology tests come back.
And it appears the celebrity spinner may have taken his own life.
“He wanted to die,” a police source said. “He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn’t even swallow it.”
It has also been claimed that police found a Valentine’s Day card from AM’s girlfriend Hayley Wood close to his body in his New York apartment, dated February 14.
The message inside read, “Thank God, you’re in my life. I love you.”
Wood recently blasted reports blaming Goldstein’s death on their breakup — insisting they were still an item when he died.
“Any indication that this horribly tragic accident happened because of a rumored breakup is not only untrue but disgusting,” the American Apparel model told Us Weekly. “We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much.”
