Whitney Houston was left a little embarrassed during her performance in New York’s Central Park Tuesday afternoon — after she lost her voice.

The pop superstar — who has allegedly battled drink and drug problems in recent years — sung to a 5,000-strong crowd yesterday afternoon.

The show was taped (see video below) and was shown on US TV show Good Morning America on Wednesday morning.

But Whitney was forced to cut her set to just three songs after her voice began to crack.

The star blamed a heavy slate of interviews, including one with chat show titan Oprah Winfrey, for her loss of voice.

“I’m so sorry. I did Oprah,’ Houston told the audience. “I’ve been talking for so long… I talked so much, my voice… I shouldn’t be talking. I should be singing.”

Some fans said they were let down by the performance. “I expected the concert to be longer. She couldn’t sing. She was really damaged,” said Joao Andrade, 28. “I’m a little disappointed. I think she was brave to come out with no voice.”

Asked by GMA host Diane Sawyer what brought her back to the stage after such a long absence, Whitney answered, “My faith, the love and support of my fans, which I do have. That’s basically what it is.”
