Avril Lavigne to Guest Judge on American Idol

Avril LavigneAmerican Idol is about to get Complicated — Avril Lavigne is to become a guest judge on the hit show.

The singer will appear alongside judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi at the show’s auditions in Los Angeles.

She joins Katy Perry, Victoria Beckham, Mary J Blige and Kelly Clarkson as guest judges drafted in to fill Paula Abdul‘s shoes in the show’s ninth season, which is due to air in January 2010.

Queen Latifah has said she is also considering a similar offer.
