Katherine Heigl has confirmed rumors she’s set to adopt.
Reports Wednesday claimed the Grey’s Anatomy star and her husband Josh Kelley — who have apparently been trying to conceive for quite some time — would be giving a home to a baby girl.
The baby, who is approximately 10 months old, is from Korea.
“She is thrilled,” a source said. “She and Josh are so happy.”
“It is a little girl and she’ll be 10 months at the end this month,” Heigl said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in an episode to air Friday. “She was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign. I realized just recently that I basically forfeited my birthday for the rest of my life.”
Heigl’s sister also was adopted from Korea.
“Her name is Naleigh,” Heigl said. “Well, I am naming her after my mother and sister Nancy, Leigh. So we call her Naleigh.”
Heigl’s new daughter will be coming “real soon,” she said.
” I wanted to tell everybody so you don’t think I stole a Korean baby,” she said, laughing.
Heigl, 30, previously revealed that she’s desperate to become a mom.
“I would really like to be a mother,” she said in July. “I’ve always wanted to have children. From the time I was old enough to understand the concept I wanted a baby. So we will get there but I don’t want to give up my career. And I don’t want Josh to. I want to be able to have it all but what does that mean? I don’t know what it means.”
