Whitney Houston’s Comeback Album Tops Chart

The pop superstar’s eagerly-awaited comeback album, I Look To You, has gone straight to number one in the United States.

The record has shifted a whopping 305,000 units, according to the Billboard album chart.

It is the biggest first week sales of Whitney’s career and the biggest of any female artist so far this year.

Whitney has recorded an interview with Oprah Winfrey to mark her triumphant return.

It will air next week in America.

Houston recently revealed that she was once so desperate to quit showbiz and escape the limelight, she pondered moving to a small island to focus on raising her daughter and looking after her aging mother.

“Three-and-a-half years ago, I was thinking about moving to a small island and setting up a food cart,” the diva said. “I was just ready to lie back and raise my daughter [Bobbi Kristina Brown] and just watch her grow and nurture her.

“And… I wanted to spend more time with my mum [singer Cissy Houston].”
