The duo — who are currently in Vancouver, Canada, shooting Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight movie franchise — don’t like the fact their romance has garnered so much media attention.

“Rob and Kristen hate being recognized wherever they go. They’re always polite to their fans, but they just want to be left alone so they can be a normal couple.”

The source adds that Rob and Kristen, “resent that the media constantly speculates about their relationship. They just want keep things private.”

It was claimed earlier this week that Pattinson, 23, and Stewart, 19, keep their public displays of affection to a minimum — because they want people to believe they’re just good friends — not lovers.

“Yes indeed, they are a couple,” a Twilight insider told E! News. “Rob and Kristen do not even show public displays of affection in front of their friends because they do not want to be talked about.

“The only time you see them being affectionate towards one another is when they are doing a scene together.

“Aside from that, one could still assume they are just friends, and that is what they want outsiders to continue believing.”

It has also been claimed Robsten keep their public displays of affection to a minimum — because they want people to believe they’re just good friends — not lovers.

    I dont blame Kristen and Rob for trying to keep out of the public eye. They cant even put their arms around each other without people talking its like no one has ever seen a couple together before its pretty bad. I can see that they love each other very much leave them alone and let them enjoy each other. If fans think they have a chance with him they are crazy and stupid keep dreaming and find someone else to be with and leave them alone. Good luck Kristen and Rob and dont listen to other people just live your own live together if thats what you want.

    Everyone needs to just let Kristen and Rob have a normal life. Yes, they are actors, but, they both deserve to have private matters kept private. I know I wouldn’t want someone sticking their nose into my private matters, and I don’t think anyone else would like that either. So, let Rob and Kristen have privacy! Kristen and Rob’s private life is no one’s business but theirs. If they wanted people to know about their private life, they would most likely shout it from the rooftops, but they aren’t doing that, which tells us something, THEY WANT PRIVACY TO HAVE SOME NORMALCY IN THEIR LIVES!!!!!! So leave them alone…….I for one m very grateful that Kristen and Rob chose acting for a career. Know why? Cause they kick butt at it. These two people are so talented and gifted, they are both just out and out awesome! Thanks Kristen and Rob for being who you are….on and off the screen.

    I have one other thing to say…to all those who put Kristen down, try walking in her shoes for one day. Just one day. Bet you can’t. The people who put Kristen down are most likely extremely jealous of her and don’t have anything better to do than to try and tear others down. I say to those people, grow up and get a life.

    Sorry if that was to harsh, but I saw some of the names people were calling Kristen and it really made me madder than a wet hen!!!!
