Patrick Swayze Wanted Children

Patrick Swayze and Lisa NiemiPatrick Swayze longed to become a father.

In his new autobiography, the Dirty Dancing star — who died last week after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer — says he couldn’t wait to have children with his wife Lisa Niemi.

Swayze also revealed how the couple was left devastated when Niemi suffered a miscarriage three months into her pregnancy.

“I couldn’t wait to become a dad, to have a child with this woman I loved so dearly,” Swayze writes in The Time Of My Life. “And I wanted to be the best father I could be — the kind of father my dad had been to me.”

Recalling Lisa’s miscarriage, Patrick wrote, “I felt completely crushed with grief.

“We wanted to try again, but the loss had been so devastating that we just couldn’t do it right away. We figured we had plenty more years ahead of us.

“Eventually, we did start trying again hoping Lisa would get pregnant.

“But she never did.”

    i would just like to say my families prayers go out to lisa and patrick’s family. i am so saddened by his death.i feel like i have lost a friend.i love all of his movies. he was a great actor and such a wonderful dancer!he really loved his wife,you could just tell,they were together for over thirty years and that’s saying something.it’s so hard to let go of someone you love when everything reminds you of them.you don’t feel whole again.apart of you goes with them,but one day you’ll be together again.god bless you lisa.

    I wish we had more role models like Patrick Swayze…..truly gifted in his craft and a gentleman with standards.

    Years ago, Patrick and his wife came here for an Arabian Horse show. I remember how adorably sweet they were. My, then, 13 year old daughter and a friend of hers, went to see the horses, and Patrick and his wife were back where they kept the horses. They were so gracious and all smiles, and took time to put their arms around my daughter’s shoulders and let them take pictures. Not at all like some, they were two of the most down to earth people you could imagine. They didn’t rush them away, and it made a memorable occasion for a 13 year old.

    I feel the loss that you are feeling and imagine what you are going through Lisa because I recently lost my partner too and you feel nothing makes it better. I was also expecting a miracle or for this to be a nightmare and I would wake up but it was real and hurts so much. But I know they are both in heaven already resting and are always here with us. I love his movies he had a great spirit and a lot of strength. He fought to the end RIP PATRICK WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH. “ANGELITO”
