Ricky Gervais admits he’s “flattered” people have noticed he’s lost weight — but says he’s “hardly Posh Spice”.

Speaking on the red carpet premiere of his new movie The Invention Of Lying in Hollywood Monday, the slimline comedian says was rather chuffed that the UK papers have reported on his newly-svelte figure.

“I’m very flattered by it actually, I have been working out more because I’ve got a gym in my house,” he said.

“I think I’m exactly the same weight but I’ve probably turned a bit of flab to muscle. I’ve lost about an inch, I’m still a 36-inch waist so I’m hardly Posh Spice!”

Ricky laughed off claims that he’d embarked on a new Hollywood diet to keep up with the A-listers. “Of course I’m not, I’ve had pizza two days running in my hotel!” he said.

However his costar Rob Lowe teased that fans should be aware of how much Ricky has changed since embarking on a film career.

“It’s unbelievable what has happened, he’s completely gone Hollywood,” Lowe said. “I know I can count on my brothers and sisters in the UK press to hammer him for going Hollywood.”
