Mackenzie Phillips Opens up to Oprah

Mackenzie Phillips has revealed to chat show host Oprah Winfrey an explosive family secret that she says she’s kept hidden for 31 years.
The One Day at a Time child star, 49, doesn’t hold back as she details her struggles with drugs, saying that her father first introduced her to them.
“My father shot me up for the first time,” she says in the interview, which airs Wednesday.
Mackenzie — who, in 2008, pleaded guilty to one count of felony cocaine possession and agreed to enter an 18-month drug deferment program — goes on to say her father, Mamas and Papas founder John Phillips, was only slightly nervous when he injected her with cocaine, saying it seemed to be the “next logical progression.”
“I remember going into my room, I was crouched on the floor. … He put the needle in my arm and put the plunger in and he missed,” she says. “He missed the vein and my whole arm went numb.”
Philips also revealed how Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger tried to seduce her.
“Mick Jagger locks the door and he says, ‘I’ve been waiting for this since you were 10 years old,’” Phillips says, but does not state how old she was at the time.
And in her tell-all book out Wednesday, Phillips says her dad engaged with her in a long-term incestuous relationship.
“On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it,” writes Phillips, who was 19 and a heavy drug user at the time. She married Jeff Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones entourage, in 1979. “I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.”
“My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.
“Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout.”
“I was a fragment of a person, and my secret isolated me,” she writes.
“One night Dad said, ‘We could just run away to a country where no one would look down on us. There are countries where this is an accepted practice. Maybe Fiji.’
“He was completely delusional. No, I thought, we’re going to hell for this.”
