Gerard Butler Hits The Red Carpet For Movie Premiere

A svelte Gerard Butler hit the red carpet in New York City Wednesday night for the premiere of his new movie Law Abiding Citizen.Gerard Butler

The film — which also stars Jamie Foxx and marks the first project of Butler’s production company, Evil Twins — hits movie theaters October 16.

Butler, 39, recently insisted he doesn’t mind being labeled a sex symbol.

“I joke with [becoming a sex symbol] because it’s way better to be appreciated than to not be appreciated,” he said. “For anybody to blow it off and dismiss it, they’re either insane or they’re just not being honest or they’re being extremely arrogant. …

“As you’re saying that, my natural response is going to be, ‘Well, I don’t really see it.’ But then again, I do — just on the street sometimes.”

The star also revealed that he was once days away from becoming a lawyer but was fired because of too much partying.

“I’m not exaggerating when I say seven days from qualifying after seven years of my life and I was let go,” he said. “I couldn’t deny any more that I had issues in how I was living my life. But I also was in many ways set free from what did feel like a prison sentence for what my soul was. Obviously, I was meant to be here.”

Gerry we’re so glad you became an actor and not a lawyer. May all you dreams come true. I wish you nothing but success. I truly enjoy how you become your characters in a movie. I’ve been a fan of yours for many years now – it’s about time others see your wonderful talent! I can’t wait for Law Abiding Citizen and when you get to do a movie about Robert Burns.
