Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are refusing to address rumors they’re set to get married — despite engagement speculation hitting fever-pitch.

The New York Daily News reported Sunday that the couple — who first met while filming Jamon, Jamon in 1992, one of Cruz’s first films, before working together again in 2008′s Vicky Christina Barcelona — have been telling their closest pals they’re planning to walk down the aisle in the next few months.

“They’re telling friends they will get married,” said one insider. “They say the pregnancy stories aren’t true.”

When reached for comment, Cruz’s rep declined and Bardem’s rep said, “I really don’t know, but would not be able to say anything even if I did.”

Cruz, 35, recently told the UK’s Psychologies magazine that she’s keen to settle down and have kids.

“I want to have babies one day but not right now. When I do it I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life,” she said. “I don’t know if I believe in marriage. I believe in family, love and children.”

“I have a tendency to become a mother to everyone around me,” she added. “My brother and sister are always complaining that I’m too protective.”

Of Bardem, she said, “He’s a wonderful man, a great actor.”
