Patrick Swayze Memorial Takes Place in Los Angeles

Posted by Adam

Patrick SwayzePatrick Swayze‘s private memorial took place Sunday.

As guests arrived to the ceremony, which took place on the Sony Studios lot in Culver City, Calif., they were greeted by a lone white horse, which was owned and beloved by the late actor whose boots were facing backwards in the stirrups.

“It’s an old horseman tradition,” a source said.

The service — attended by several hundred friends and family, including Patrick’s Ghost costar Whoopi Goldberg — incorporated many photos of Swayze riding his horses, along with a video tribute to the Dirty Dancing star.

The memorial featured speeches celebrating Swayze’s life and a performance by professional dancers in honor of his talent.

“A whole dance floor was built,” says another source. “The dancers did these amazing numbers.”

The memorial was planned by the actor’s wife Lisa Niemi.

Swayze died on September 14 after losing his battle against pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

Patrick Swayze has always been one of my favorite actors. I remember when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I would just watch Dirty Dancing over and over. I would just marvel at how good he danced and how good looking he was. Watching him dance made my heartbeat faster. When Roadhouse came out my parents wouldn’t let me watch it, probably cause it was so hot. Later on I snuck and watched it I loved it too. I really admire his strength, I would hope that if I got sick that I would be able to acquire the strength to fight for my life the way he did. My heart goes out to his beautiful wife that stood by his side and supported him to the very end. They have a fairy tale kind of love. I can just imagine how hard it is to watch the love of your life slip away? My heart and prayers go out for her. Their is no doubt that he is in heaven dancing his but off and smiling down at Lisa saying,” I’ll be right here waiting for you doll.” He is and will always be an inspiration to me. In Loving Memory always!
    Love to his wife Lisa,

Patrick was an awesome actor, dancer, person, etc. He was also a fellow Texas from my hometown here in Houston. He is an icon in this town and holds a very special place in many peoples hearts in this town. I live in the neighborhood where he grew up, went to school, met Lisa, etc. He will always be loved and missed here. We bought his new book as soon as it hit the shelves and it is incredible from the first page. Our hearts and prayers go out to Lisa and his family.

Patrick was an awesome actor and I believe Husband. It’s a shame he didn’t father children, because he would have been a great father and friend. I remember the first movie he starred in, but the greatest to me was the Movie “North and the South” None could have played that Civil War hero like he did. I wish they would replay that Movie on TV again or the Series so we could have that. Not much was said about that, but it was the best! I respected him as an actor because he loved his wife and was so loyal to her throughout all those years and for Hollywood that is unseen and awesome. My prayes go out to his wife and know that he will truly me missed on this earth.

Patrick was one of my favorite actors. I watched “Ghost”,” Dirty Dancing” and “Road House” many many times. No one could move like he did~ You can see he was a dancer before he ever acted. I think he and his wife had an awesome relationship. I read in People when they renewed their wedding vows in 2003 and it was beautiful and touching the words they exchanged. She can rest in knowing how very much he loved her. I am sure she too loved him as much. May he rest in peace in Heaven with the other angels. Love you Patrick and Lisa, God keep you resting in His arms! There will never be another actor like Patrick!!
