George Clooney‘s romance with his Italian TV star girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis is getting serious — he’s only gone and bought her a ring!

The Hollywood star slipped the Cartier diamond on Elisabetta’s finger to show his commitment to their relationship — but it’s not an engagement ring.

George has also bought Canali, 31, a Hermés Kelly bag and countless pairs of designer shoes.

“Every day is like Christmas at George’s house for Elisabetta,” a source close to Clooney told American tabloid In Touch Weekly. “He’s even looking at a Maserati. He’s had a great life for a long time, but she seems to make him very happy.”

George — who had a five year one/off relationship with British model Lisa Snowdon, was married to Talia Balsam from 1989–1993 — recently revealed that he’s dated people and still felt “terribly alone”.

“People keep asking me if I worry about being alone — but listen, I’ve been in some relationships where I’ve felt terribly alone,” he said.

“Just because you’re with someone in a couple doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re incredibly happy and complete — sometimes the opposite.

“I’ve broken up with a few people, and had a lot of people break up with me, and sometimes it has been a relatively easy thing, and sometimes it has been the sensible thing because the relationship wasn’t working out.

“I’m just trying to live my life the way I choose to live it here and hope it all works out, but I’m also well aware that certain things you can do which are cute when you do them at 20 become less cute when you’re still doing them at 48.”
