Jason Bateman insists he didn’t mind taking his shirt off for his new movie Couples Retreat – because he’s a “safe distance” away from a six pack!

The actor says he isn’t self-conscious — he quite likes showing off his toned physique.

“I’m a safe distance away from a six-pack, so the shirt came right off,” he said. “And the fact that we were all pasty white, that was one of the first scenes we shot in Bora Bora, so we were all pretty white. That helped.”

Jason says he couldn’t lay on the beach and get a tan before shooting the scene in case he got sunburned.

“We were there maybe three days beforehand, and there was a conversation about watch what you do with your free time on the island before we shoot that scene,” he explained. “Like don’t get a sunburn because in the script that’s like the first thing they do when they land on the island. So you can’t look like you’ve been there.”

Bateman also hinted that he’s not very well endowed. “My torso gives you a great laugh. If you want a bigger one, drop the trousers, I guess,” he said. “When I say bigger one, I mean bigger laugh. Oh, god.”

Couples Retreat — which also stars Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau and Kristen Bell — hit theaters October 9.
