Singer Shakira knows she did a good job with the video for her latest single She Wolf – because her parents liked it!

The Colombian superstar says her mother and father were left so impressed by the racy promo, they emailed her with their praises.

“They sent me an email and said, ‘The video’s spectacular — a little provocative but spectacular’,” said Shakira.

However, the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker admits that she had to warn her parents about some of the skimpy outfits she has been wearing to promote her new album.

“I had to say to them, ‘I’m a woman now, this is the way I express myself’,” she said.

“My dad understood but my mom was scared what people could think. She said, ‘Is it too much?’.”

The 32-year-old recently revealed that she was banned from her school choir because her music teacher though she had a voice “like a goat”.

“I never made it to the school choir because the music teacher didn’t like my voice,” she said. “I was pretty sad. But he was probably right, I did have a voice a bit like a goat but my dad told me to never give up and to keep going and it’s paid off.”
