Mischa Barton has quit Los Angeles — she’s relocating permanently to New York following the cancellation of her short-lived TV show The Beautiful Life.

Barton — who was in the Big Apple filming the CW network show, created by Ashton Kutcher — says she has no plans to return to her Hollywood home.

“I grew up in the city, so there’s a lot to love about it,” Barton told the New York Post newspaper. “All my close friends are here. I feel it’s a fun city to lay low in and you get treated right.”

Barton, 23 — who was recently released from hospital after being placed under involuntary psychiatric hold — recently insisted she isn’t “unstable”.

“I’m getting sick of answering questions about it,” Mischa moaned. “I just had a bad time of year and now it’s all over and done with, and I’m just very happy to be feeling happy again and back on top of it and not so worried about everything.

“It was just too much to handle for me at the time.

“One stay in the hospital was turned into this huge ‘She’s lost her marbles!’ thing, and people look at me like I’m unstable and they should probably cross the street when they see me.”
