Madonna: ‘Paul McCartney is Boring’

MadonnaMadonna could never perform live like Paul McCartney — she’d be too bored.

The pop superstar, 51, says she wouldn’t want to just “go out there and play guitar” like the former Beatle because she likes to work up a sweat.

“People have told me, ‘You could just go out there and play guitar and sing your songs like Paul McCartney,’ but I’d be too bored,” she told Rolling Stone magazine. “Most of the joy of the shows is the magic of creating them — theater. I’m a perfectionist. I like hard work. I like to sweat.”

The Queen of Pop also revealed that she sees a lot of herself in Lady GaGa.

“I see myself in Lady Gaga,” she said. “When I saw her, she didn’t have a lot of money for her production. she’s got holes in her fishnets, and there’s mistakes everywhere. It was kind of a mess, but I can see that she has that IT Factor. It’s nice to see that at a raw stage.”

    I am a HUGE Paul McCartney fan and not a big Madonna fan. I have seen him perform live and, let me tell you, it was far from boring! The energy was fantastic. However, the title of the article is misleading as Madonna never says that Paul is boring or that his shows are. She states that she would be bored performing in the manner that he does. I don’t think she meant any disrespect to Paul.

    Miss Madge has done very well for herself and although Pauly appeals to a much more diversified genre of listeners, Madonna has worked hard to earn her place in the music world.

    I grew up on the Beatles … I still recall where I was when the British Invasion hit the U.S. (((smile))) and yes, they have left a mark in the history of music for many decades…. just as Madonna has with her own loyal followers.

    That’s what is so wonderful about music… if it doesn’t appeal… dial it down or off or change it to what you have the free choice to listen to.

    She could have said something more gracious, she could have said “Paul McCartney can sing and play an instrument, he doesn’t need bells and whistles to entertain, he’s a master,” something complimentary instead of putting herself above him.     That being said, although I’m 46 and McCartney is my dad’s age, I enjoy his music much more than Madonna’s, who has to glam up her productions because, let’s face it, girlfriend can’t sing.

    Okay, I always liked Madonna-songs though the performances were too fitted. As long as I only had to listen to it and not watch it, it was okay. But now she’s crossed the line too far. A real good artist ist the one who writes the songs him- or herself, who sings them him- or herself and knows how to perform tehm in their original form. The ones who put up such a show should not title themselves as musicians. You can argue if they’re entertainers or artists, and I would not say it’s bad, but they’re not musicians. Sometimes it’s just disgusting how all this ‘show’ ist called M-U-S-I-C. Paul McCartney is real music.

    Although Madonna didn’t say “Paul McCartney is boring” she should have thought twice before attaching his name to her comments about his kind of show being boring. Paul is someone to whom the adage “Say something nice or don’t say anything at all” definitely applies. I like some of her songs, but the idea of her on a stage playing a guitar and singing is laughable. That’s not what made her famous. As others have said, she’s a master of marketing and creating an image.

    Even though she never said that Paul was boring, she said that his shows were, which pissed me off just as much. Like many other said, Macca is able to just stand there, play his instruments, and sing and his audience is amazed. Madonna has to have all this shit on stage to make it cool and worth watching… And she probably lip syncs too. I would rather go watch the real talent any day than Madonna.
