Hilary Swank: ‘I Believe in Miracles’

The Oscar-winning actress — who was raised in a Washington trailer park — says she feels lucky to have enjoyed so much success — especially given her humble roots.

“I would say I believe in miracles,” Swank tells UK newspaper The Independent, “especially after seeing where I’ve come from and where I am today.

“A lot of young women — and some men — come up to me and say, ‘You’re a reminder to me to not give up my dream. That you don’t have to be born into it.’”

Swank, 35, recently revealed how she’s learning how to fly for her role as famed aviator Amelia Earhart in upcoming film Amelia.

“I am studying for my pilot’s license,” she said. “I don’t sweat a lot, but when I fly, my whole back is drenched. The concentration, the focus. It is so wonderful.

“I just picked up my boyfriend in Las Vegas! He had a business meeting there, and I flew with my instructor and picked him up.”
