Chaz Bono: Girlfriend Amazing to Support Sex Change

Chaz BonoCHAZ Bono has heaped praise on his “amazing” girlfriend.

Bono — the eldest child of Cher and the late Sonny Bono — says Jennifer Elia, who he’s dated for four years, has been completely supportive during his process of becoming a man.

“She’s been amazing,” Bono, 40, told Entertainment Tonight in the second part of a two-part interview, airing Friday. “I feel really grateful to be going through this with a partner.”

“I didn’t just spring this on Jennifer recently,” Bono explains.”This was something she knew about shortly after we met.”

Chaz and Jennifer were set up through mutual friends at a barbecue thrown at Bono’s house.

“Our relationship always modeled a heterosexual relationship, emotionally and intellectually,” Bono adds. “So now it does physically as well.”

Cher’s reaction to her child’s transformation, however, remains private.

“The people in my life are just happy that I’m doing this,” Bono says, “and seeing the positive effect that it’s having on me.”

    Honey, s/he MADE it our business when s/he started talking in public about her/his private life. No, it ISN’T our business – too bad s/he couldn’t fight the lure of being in the spotlight and getting his/her 15 minutes of fame (since apparently s/he didn’t inherit any talent from either parent.)

    Sadly, we’re all having to hear about this very personal choice and process, even though it is PERSONAL. But celebs (and celeb spawn) just can’t stay out of the spotlight and seem to enjoy sharing their most private moments with the world.

    It’s pathetic.

    I’m sorry but am I the only one thinking that Jen had $$$$ signs going on w/Chaz and not much else. Mark my words. They will have some big hoopla about their marriage and then 5-10 years from now divorce and Jen getting Chaz/CHER Cha Ching Ching. I’m just saying.

    Unless we were born in Bono’s body we have no idea what he/she nay have grown up feeling. I hope everyone supports the decesion that Bono has made to become a man since it has been quite obvious that is the predominate gender. He isn’t asking to sleep in your bed so why the hell do you care anyway.

    If I publically announce that I am a cat, will the wretched press refer to me as a cat, just like they are going along with her gender “switch” because she says she’s a man? They unapologetically refer to her as a “he”, like it’s the most natural thing in the world. I still remember her parents bringing this cute little girl out to say bye-bye in the last set of their broadcasts. What a cutie she was.

    OK, so the boobs are surgically removed, hormones are taken so he grows facial hair and gets a “manly” voice, then what, does he get a wienie from a cadaver (they can do face transplants, don’t see how a wienie transplant would be impossible) ??? Or does he stay a girl down there?

    How heartbreaking for Cher….. I can’t imagine many parents being ‘proud’ of this…. Honestly, if this were ‘natural’ the race would end, get it? So it isn’t the way we were designed/created, let’s face that. That being said… it’s her life, her choice.. and I hope she’s happy. Although I have to tell you I haven’t met very many ‘happy’ lesbians. They all seem so angry… that’s just my experience. Now all you lesbians, calm down. I have a right to my observations just like you do. I wish her and Cher well, I truly do. She was a darling little girl on the Sonny ‘n Cher show when I was a teenager….
    This is what being a parent is all about… unconditional love… It’s what kind of heart Chaz has that counts…
