Rihanna ‘Watched Father Beat Her Mother’

RIHANNA has revealed how she used to watch her father beat her mother as she was growing up.
The Umbrella singer — who was left battered and bruised after a fight with boyfriend Chris Brown in February this year — says seeing her mom suffer at the hands of her violent dad made her vow never to date an abusive man.
“I’d be beating on my dad’s leg all the time trying to stand in the middle, breaking glass bottles so they could hear something else and snap out of it,” the 21-year-old said in an interview with ABC.
“My mom never went to hospital but he broke her nose one time. I always said to myself, ‘I’m never gonna date someone like my dad, never’.”
In a new interview with Glamour magazine, the 21-year-old superstar also revealed how the level of “media chaos” during the aftermath of the assault made her feel like Britney Spears.
“It has taught me so much,” she said.
“I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day. It was like, What, there are helicopters circling my house? There are 100 people in my cul-de-sac? What do you mean, I can’t go back home?”
The star says she was particularly humiliated by photos of her badly bruised face leaking onto the Internet.
“That is not a photo you would show to anybody,” she says. “I felt completely taken advantage of . . . like people were making it into a fun topic . . . and it’s my life. I was disappointed, especially when I found out the photo was [supposedly leaked by] two women.”
