Adam Lambert: ‘I Have Great Parents’
ADAM Lambert has heaped praise on his “great” parents.
The American Idol runner-up — whose debut album, For Your Entertainment, comes out on Nov. 23 — says his mother and father always told him it was okay to be different.
“I do have great parents,” Lambert told the Inquirer. “My father is teacher-oriented. He was very much guiding me through. I always felt weird and kind of out of place. I remember my father from my early age going, ‘It’s okay. When you’re older, everybody is going to want to be your friend, trust me. The weird ones are the ones that everybody wants to be like when they’re older.’
“I really enjoyed hearing that as a kid. He gave me a little tip. He was like, ‘Hold on, just hold on. It will all work out. It will all fall into place. People will understand you later.’
“So that gave me a lot of confidence, being like a strange kid. And my mom is just as supportive.”
Lambert — who recently split from beau Drake LaBry because he’s too busy with his career — earlier this month insisted he’s happy being single.
“I’m cool being single,” the star told Us Weekly magazine. “I will date on tour.”
Adam said his ex is a “very good friend” after their mutual decision to end the relationship.
“I don’t really feel like there were any mistakes made,” he said. “I feel like things evolved. Sometimes you’re on the same page with somebody, and sometimes you have to get off that page and on to another one.”
