JOHN MAYER Defends Britney Spears

Posted by Adam

John MayerCROONER John Mayer has defended Britney Spears for lip syncing in Australia.

The Gravity singer — who is also in Australia promoting his latest album — blasted fans who had called for a refund after the Womanizer star’s show in Perth after she sparked outrage by not singing live for her whole performance.

“If you’re shocked that Britney was lip-syncing at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you,” Mayer wrote on his Twitter account.

Britney, 27, was said to have hid in her hotel room on Saturday following her performance on Friday night.

A representative for the star said, “Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it.”

In response to the show fans protested about the high ticket prices and “impersonal” nature of the show.

Concertgoer Wendy Di Renzo, 36, said, “It was so impersonal. She did not interact with her audience. There were no big TV screens projecting the action, so if you didn’t know Britney, you might have even doubted it was her.”

Complaints against the Gimme More singer also included that she never referred to Perth by name, instead giving a generic welcome to fans, saying: “What’s up Australia?”

Another fan, who left the show early, said, “I want my money back or I want her to sing properly. The ticket cost me $200 and she lip-synced the whole thing.”

Politicians in three Australian states — Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales — have now called for new laws to force music promoters to disclose whether a concert will be live or lip-synced beforehand.

Britney will next perform in Melbourne on November 11.

Anyone who likes her enough to pay 200 for a ticket, knows she lip syncs. I'm not a fan but I was asked to see the show with a friend and we both had a blast. The show is fun. It really is. Remember she is a human being not a thing. Have some respect for human emotion.

Britney is the queen of pop f u all haters. Britney can do what the hell she wants to do. Her real and true fans support her no matter what she does!

When you pay to see Britney Spears, you're not paying to see an intimate concert. You're paying to see a show. A spectacle. John Mayer got it right.

Though she probably should have had projection screens if the venue was big enough.

The Circus was terrible…… I paid $350 for VIP and wish i had just gone and bought her 'In the zone' dvd and relived the glory years where she was about high energy dance.

That doesn't sound like John Mayer was defending her to me, but rather pointing out how stupid people to expect that Spears actually sings at her shows. She's an "entertainer", not a "musician."

I absolutely love Britney’s music and wouldn’t care less if she lip synced. It was already public that she was going to do that anyway. Maybe these upset concert goers should not have bought a ticket to start with if that was going to be an issue. I think she should be very proud of her come back after all she has been through. Good on ya Britney – I think you rock. I just hope she wants to come back to Australia after all this because I missed out and I am spewing about that.

The trouble with Britney is nearly always the same. Such an awesome vocalist. It is so moving to see her destroy it by being caught up in all that bad garbage. She should go to rehabilitation, or get into a clinic, or get a better personal coach. Will she tour in the future? I’d murder to see her in concert, her performances always so terrific.
