Hilary Swank Was Picked on For Being Poor
HILARY Swank has revealed how she was picked on as a child because she came from a trailer park.
The Academy Award-winning actress says people used to treat her differently because she was poor.
“It wasn’t that being poor made me feel like an outsider,” Swank, 35, told Britain’s Stylist magazine. “It was the way I was treated. I realized, at a young age, what class difference was. Parents of friends wouldn’t allow me in their house.
“I felt different and wondered why I didn’t belong, why I couldn’t be at their house playing with their kids. It was through watching movies or reading books that I learned about relationships. Perhaps that’s why I like these types of roles.”
Swank recently revealed that the worst thing about being a famous actress is dealing with inquisitive members of the media.
“I have never courted fame and I don’t think I have ever been regarded as a celebrity,” she told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper in a new interview. “Of course, I do get followed by the paparazzi, but they would follow any actor because that’s their job.
“It’s not something I enjoy, but I don’t get bothered too much. The thing is that I love my job. I love being an actor. And I have had to come to terms with the fact that doing this — I suppose I must admit that that’s being a celebrity — is part of that job.”
