Shaq & Shaunie Split Over Cheating Allegations

Posted by Adam

Shaquille O'NealSHAQUILLE O’Neal‘s wife Shaundya O’Neal filed for legal separation from the star after it emerged he had been having an affair with Wizards baller Gilbert Arenas’ fiance Laura Govan, it has been claimed.

According to the YBF website, Govan and O’Neal have been having a secret sexual relationship for at least a year.

The pair have reportedly been flying to each others’ towns and meeting up at different events.

Laura and Shaq even allegedly spent time together last Christmas when the O’Neal was still playing in Phoenix. Laura just so happened to be there “visiting her sister”.

According to court papers fled Monday, Shaundya cites irreconcilable differences for the break in their seven-year marriage, and is seeking sole custody of their four minor children, ages 3 to 9, with visitation for O’Neal.

She is also asking for an unspecified amount of money for child support. She said she will eventually seek a divorce, according to People magazine.

It’s not the first time the pair have split.

In 2007, Shaq, 37, filed for divorce in Miami-Dade County in Florida, but the two later reconciled, after a bitter dispute over whether or not he was hiding money from her.

There is a prenuptial agreement in place.

This is so sad because it seems it's always about the money. If not some form of cheating, I tell you marriages have no value anymore and that's a disgrace to God.

  • bibes

marriages have NEVER meant shit! men have had mistresses ever since marriage was invented. literally. not saying its right… but it's true. especially wealthy powerful men.

  • spirv

The reason marriage is not working for these type of people is very simple. They say they love, but love is merely according to themselves. They say they love and believe in God and that to is according to their own belief and their type of love. No matter who you are, if you can't keep your thoughts in your pocket when the opposite sex comes around and your spouse is not present. Then if you say, "I believe and love God, then that alone should be enough. I said should be enough, that you would not want to offend God or have God see you act so evil and ugly before His eyes. If we believe it is acceptable to commit such evil then we must truly know that the god we serve is not the god of the heavens, but our own.

  • EN.KI

    What God do you mean?
The God of the old testament who murdered humans by the millions.Talk about causing EVIL.
Yea, good luck with that. You know if your actions are right or wrong.
people make decisions, some are priest some are everyday people but you make a decision and you live with it right or wrong.
Trust in yourself to think of the people in your family, your spouse and children and what the effect of your actions will have on them.
Don't freakin worry about having to explain to GOD what you did, think about your children.

  • Gordon Grant

That's a good thought; think about the consequences of your actions. No one does. We live in an irrisonsible society. where it's all for the moement, including sex. Kids are all that matrers. Adults are
    dispicable.

  • truthseer

Marriage as well as plenty of other beliefs, institutions etc; continue to have meaning. Ignorant, selfish, immoral people on the other hand show their lack of positive value or meaning in society. If people could keep their word, live up to their sworn agreements, show any integrity at all. Instead of feeling like they should be able to do as they please whenever to whomever (continually, not a mistake, error, etc;) think how better life would be. But that would take mature grounded in their beliefs adults considering others and respecting them. But hey if they have money or are popular or are considered powerful we look the other way forget our morals accept what they do and then follow. NO NOT ME!

  • guest

EN.Kl- God didnt kill millions of people in the Old testament. You should think about your kids, but also need to confess your wrong doings to God.

  • Rob

Stop bringing religion into this discussion. The bottom line is we are animals that have natural instincts and cravings that we fight off daily. No matter how hard a human being tries to ignore or how much he/she denies they have sexual feelings for others, deep down we all know its B.S. As said earlier, it has to be about the children and the future well being of our species. Once we have offspring , we need to be more responsible for the sake of the childrens future. Society forces rules on us all and expects us to follow them for the greater good. I believe each and every one of us during our lifetimes have a very strong potential of cheating on our partners. The difference is the differing situations we are all in. To some extent we can control the situations we're put in, But in general more attractive individuals will be at higher risk for such behavior for obvious reasons. The desire of others to have them and the basic need of every human being to be be loved and desired.

    • KLK

I agree that religion should not be a part of this topic, but why does one need to be more responsible when children come into the picture? Why not be responsible ALL the time regardless if your a parent or not? Are you saying that people who don't have children can act irresponsibly? Are we not surrounded by youth all the time? It is how we carry ourselves & how we treat each other, among other things, that reflect on others especially children. You say it is "the basic need of every human bring to be loved and desired" and that is true, however, to say that "more attractive individuals will be at (a) higher risk …" is a reflection of how shallow our society really is.

  • Dee Aylor

This is so sad! People make comittments but don't remember them. One does not say I do until the next person comes to play. This is a life long comittment. Why? Why do we do this and continue to do so? What messages are we sending to our future generation.

  • Stud01

Shaq has lousy taste in women. He really does…

That dude should be getting the hottest chicks around. Stupid hot, fresh young chicks. He's famous, gots lots of money and is an athlete..the world is his oyster…

Why he is bothering with these homely types I'll never know. Shaqs wife was BORING and plain and this Govan broad was just bleh…kinda ugly.

I could go to the mall or a local bar TONIGHT and find much hotter chicks with broke ass losers…

Shaq needs to cash in and leave these plain ass bitches behind him…

    • Rob

People cheat when they think they can get away with it. Shaq obviously thought he would get away with it. Whether or not the woman was a perfect 10 or just an average house wife didn't really matter. If he wanted a perfect 10 and didnt care about getting caught, i'm certain he would get some of the hottest women in the country. Money can buy Hot Women without even having to pay them.

  • guest

who cares…shaqs a dousche, he burned out a long time ago. let him tweet his feelings to a random bunch of 13 year olds. dear shaq–you are not funny, or hip, or cool cause the media implies that you are. choke on user spirv's dick, then you both can call God.

  • guest

    very interesting discussion

  • Rob

We all live our lives fighting off one desire or another that is not deemed moral or correct. This basic flaw in our existence will never be corrected. As a matter of fact being alive would not be as exciting or to some not worth living without the basic premise of right and wrong. That said, if we love our children, our families, our spouses and the history we have created with them, then we must think twice, three times, even four times before making that critical mistake of cheating on our families. Because that is what we are doing, cheating on our families. Hurting our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and more importantly, our children.

  • Stud01

Nah, forget all that morality stuff.

Thing is the bitch he be cheating with is uglier than than his ugly wife…

    That's whack.

    • Cheryl K. Jordan

I really can not believe that so many of you have criticized his wife's attractiveness. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and is only skin deep. Physical attributes are not what all of us fall in love with. I think it should be love from the heart. And, the guilt after you have cheated on someone you love is something you have to live with for the rest of your life. Marriage should be a lifetime commitment, unless there is abuse, manipulation or other unsavory behavior toward your mate.

  • Benz

Shaq has always been a Cheater…. He even was bold enough (or stupid enough) to rap (or sing…. if you can call it) about cheating. He performed his little rap publically in a Miami night club over a year and half ago!

  • Cheryl

When are people going to start taking their marriage VOWS!!! SERIOUSLY!! they chane partners like they change clothes. MEN!! Stay Zipperd Up! WOMEN!!! Keep Your Panties On! God is not PLEASED with any of this . You will pay.

  • PreacHER

Marriage? Used to be a covenant between a man and a women before God. Now it is portrayed as a social event before anyone who wants a free meal. How can you profess to be a part of something sacred created by GOD and leave him out? Celebrity or not, marriage is holy. Regardless of the situation, whether it's marriage, raising kids or handling your finances, remove GOD and you have lawlessness as seen everyday in your homes and on television. My prayer is that the world returns back to their first love. The love of Jesus Christ. Get connected.

Have you think about his friend Gilbert Arenas what he will tel when he ask ?

  • bobby g.

Shaq, Is above mere human beings. He is god and a legend in his own mind. I wonder what his
    father would think ??

Shaq is a legend in his own mind . Above everyone else you justify anything!! I wonder if his dad is watching?

  • Joe

My goodness…Ain't sayin' it's right what Shaq's s'posed to be doing but if he has (is), she's known about it for a long time, you can bet. The checkbook's a powerful thing and my guess is she could've walked away from him any time she wanted to. Walkin' away from those bucks though is the hard thing to do. That's what most important to women anyway. Dont' jump on me! go to:
    http://www.nydailynews.com/money/2009/08/17/2009-…
It says: Hot sex no match for cold cash, poll of women finds

Live with it ladies, guys get laid, chicks get paid. Way of the world…always has been, always will be but I admit, political correct it ain't. Go ahead, complain all you want to, see how much difference it makes.

  • Lynn

What his father would think? You mean what would his mother think? Mothers are the ones whose hearts are broken when their sons hurt the family and act like fools. Sure they are proud of all their accomplishments, but Mothers care more about their sons being good fathers and loving husbands, keeping the family intact and being a good example. His Father will survive this. His Mother will carry the pain in her heart for a long time as she will see the pain he has caused her grandchildren in their most formable years. Where do these guys get off thinking they don't hurt anyone when they indulge in their own selfish ways?

  • igodeep

I am a african american male, not trying to defend shaq. But it has never been part of our culture to be monogamous. We were forced to take on this christian belief system that they(europeans) abided by. That shit is in our dna to have more than one woman. The difference between then and now is we had to take responsibility of that other as a wife vs just geting together to fck like we do now. Now ask yourself if the marriage ayatem in its current form is not working why continue to stick with broken system??

    • joe

Igodeep…I'm sorry, but as I said earlier, it ain't a race thing, it's gender thing. If you're a male you want to…uh…put what you got into what a woman's got and put it into as many women as you can get it into. If you're a woman you want to put your hand into as many mens pockets as you can. Maybe African American males are more successful at it than other races, but it ain't for lack of trying!

    • summe66

I am also African American. DNA has nothing to do with being whorish, but everything to do with ignorance and stupidity. Please do not make the Black Race look bad with your dumbness. I must add that I am glad that she is a black woman that will be walking away with the big bucks.

    • ericsnow

      You are very right.

  • guest

igodeep – prove that it is in your dna – and you will never have to explain yourself and the your sorry anyone ever again – ignorance is so sad

when w started handing out bailout money, folks seemed to gravitate towards favre's retirement plans. fast forward to now, with the economy in the crapper and this whole h1n1 scar, it's refreshing to see that sports figures can provide such a delightful distraction in these times of crisis.

The system of having 1 spouse is flawless and was designed for success. Having the same mom and dad under one roof bearing children and creating generations of success is the blueprint for a prosperous future. Modeling solid family life for your children is key. Its what makes strong communities and strong cities and a strong nation overall. We on the other hand my african american male friend have an imperfect nature. We all have the ability to discipline ourselves or just allow our selfishness to rule over us and that my friend is where infedility, cheating and the worse of ourselves are revealed. We have all had the ugly show us up at times. It even scares us afterwards when we finally see what we are capable of.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/silvasurfer silvasurfer

In all we do we have a choice. There's always a choice. We blame others for our bad actions. We dont take responsibility anymore. We become cowardly in way. Decisions is an ability we have been given by God to use to please Him or ourselves. Yes we should think about our children….in doing that we are being unselfish. Its a decision! Overall, if we make the mistake we have to live with it and so does everyone and unfortunately theres too many mistakes going on which tells me and everyone theres a crack in the foundation of family life which we as americans have lost over the past 20 years.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/silvasurfer silvasurfer

Television and the government used to encourage us with shows life "Family Matters" "Growing Pains" "Who's the Boss" "Happy Days" etc… They modeled through televisions strong families. If you watch tv today….its about selfishness and pleasing oneself and individualism. Shows like sex in city, desperate housewives, nip tuck, two an half men etc. This is where we as the american people have lost something great. This is where our nation is heading. Is regressing morally, not progressing. We can't fix the everyone else, but we can start by fixing ourselves and creating strong families again that are solid with moral foundations based on truth, not selfish truth. If you agree with me give me a shout out on this chat. I would appreciate it.

All i have to say, Don't just be a man when it's fun. take care of your family and do the right thing, this type of behavior show young black men and your kids that it's alright to cheat . Your suppose to be a possative role model. act like it and stop messing up your family's life over a peace of a– it's not worth it for the 7 years of marriage. once a cheater always a cheater you will do the same thing to the bucket-head your with now. peace out Shaq O'cheat

  • ELEGANT

SOME OF THESE COMMENTS ARE INCREDIBLY DISHEARTENING! 1ST OF ALL MR.S O'NEAL WAS ALLEGEDLY CHEATING WITH HER TRAINER A WHILE BACK AND SHAQ FILED FOR DIVORCE. 2ND THANK YOU BLACK MAN WHO DECIDED FOR THE WHOLE BLACK RACE THAT CHEATING WAS IN OUR DNA. I WAS APART OF THE NBA WORLD FOR 2 YEARS AND I HAD NO CLUE WHO MY BIG HEADED ASS EX WAS WHEN I MET HIM SO I HAD NO IDEA HOW DEEP HIS POCKETS WERE. AND TRUST ME I WASN'T THAT IMPRESSED TO BE AROUND THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE MOST OF THEM ARE EGOTISTICAL ASSHOLES WITH THE BLIND WIVES TO MATCH. YES MOST OF THOSE WOMEN DIDN'T CARE WHAT THEY DID BECAUSETHEY HAD MEN ON THE SIDE TOO, AS LONG AS IT DIDN'T GET PUT IN THE STREET IT WAS GOOD. NOT THE LIFE FOR ME. I WILL NOT TAKE DISRESPECT. MOST OF THE WOMEN THAT MET THEIR HUSBANDS AFTER THEY WERE ALREADY IN THE NBA ARE IN IT FOR THE MONEY. TRUST ME IT IS THE TOPIC AT THE NBA WIVES CLUB EVENTS HONEY TRUST THAT

  • igodeep

I will atempt to respond to my comment about mutiple partners being part of our dna. Every thought or action that the mind conceive or perceive, produces a unique biochemical response that is to be interpreted and processed by brain(neurological sytem) for us to experience the physical world. Every unique biochemical repsonse is recorded in our dna ( the process in a nutshell is called evolution), you are truly your ancestors. I wasn’t trying to justify shaqs actions but trying to shed light on emotion( energy+motive)behind action. The more successful the man(the ability to take care of woman and children) the more woman are attracted too that man. To take it further the energy that is needed to be successful on that level is the same sexual energy that makes one attractive. It is a fact that most highly successful men have a high sex drive. And in that lies the dilema.

  • igodeep

Let me clarify I don’t condone what shaq did, it was wrong on so many levels. What I am saying is that this monogamous thing isn’t working for us as a people first and as a society on a whole. Its has never worked. Y’all talk a good game, I find funny that if you ask a women if she would consent to being in polygamous relationship she would say hell naw. But that same woman would creep with a married man on the low. We need to stop lying to our self and engage in constructive dialogue about solutions to the problem. Women, there are not enough men to go around tell me how can you avoid sharing your man if you are lucky enough to have one. Oh well you could go the the alternate route. Oops a lot of you already have.hum I wonder why.

    • ericsnow

Elegantly put, you sir are a scholar and gentleman. The only thing I can see that Shaq did wrong was sleep with another man's wife. Now if Shaq was involved with her before Gilbert and taking care of her then that was actually Shaq's wife from the gate. If more African American men and women actually went and found the true definition of adultery according to the bible in the Hebrew english concordance we would have a better blueprint which to formulate statutes for behavior. So called African American women have always outnumbered the men greatly. ALL AA male that aren't gay have or desire more than one women. As you mentioned these same women that talk all this one women one man crap are the same ones that understand fully the concept of sharing the "right" man. LOL

  • Tread

Why are we acting like GOD is all over marriage – IF that was the case King David (biblical here) would not have sent one of his best generals off to DIE in war – so he (David) could do his wife…Solomon had thousands of wives…Abraham had a wife (Sarah – old) and a girl on the side ( Haggar -younger)…part of the reason why we have so much strife between certain religions…This is all about personal accountability – period!
