ALEC Baldwin admits he was desperate to work with Meryl Streep.
The 30 Rock actor — who appears opposite the Devil Wears Prada star in new movie It’s Complicated – says he would have taken any role on offer if it meant sharing the silver screen with Streep.
“I’ve come to this place late in my own life where going to work is really a pleasure,” Baldwin, 51, told Parade magazine. “In addition to my TV show 30 Rock, I’ve done a movie called It’s Complicated with Meryl Streep. I have worshiped this woman for so long that I would have played her driver or her chiropractor. Then I found out I was going to be her leading man. I’m not allowed to tell you that I have some romantic scenes with her. They don’t want to spoil the surprise. But I can tell you that it’s easy to imagine being in love with her.
“So, romance with Meryl — yes, I was terrified. First of all, you’re worried because, no matter who the actress is — remember, I’ve played those kinds of scenes with Geena Davis, Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, and my ex-wife, Kim Basinger — you’re always hoping that it goes well. You hope they like having you around.”
Baldwin — who divorced Basinger in 2002 after nine years of marriage — says he’d get wed again if he found the right woman.
“I would love to get married or find a special woman again in real life,” he added. “I certainly did not see divorce as something in my life, and I think getting married is a great idea. I get a kick out of seeing my friends get married. Maybe someday I’ll have that come my way again. Who knows?”
It’s Complicated — which I’m really looking forward to seeing! — hits theaters December 25. That’s Christmas day!
