NICOLAS Cage says he’s a “tremendous worrier”.

The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans star — who is under financial strain due to his excessive spending habits — admits he frets over the smallest of issues.

“I’m a tremendous worrier but I’m beginning to realize that I can’t just cry over spilled milk,” Cage told Parade magazine. “When there’s nothing I can do about it, why worry? I just want to keep doing things that excite me and not worry too much about what other people are thinking.

“When I act, I act for myself. I just have to turn myself on. What I want to do is keep the romance and passion alive in myself.”

“I feel you always have to confront your fears within reason,” he added. “You don’t want the fear to overcome you so the only way to face it, to overcome it is to face it. It’s calling you and you have to answer the challenge. When I’m afraid to do something, I know I have to do it.”

Cage, 45, recently revealed that he was once stalked by a mime artist.

The star joked about his ordeal at the hands of a “silent but maybe deadly” performer but admitted he found the white-faced stranger “unsettling”.

“I guess it would fall into the stalker category more or less,” he said.

“I was being stalked by a mime—silent, but maybe deadly. Somehow, this mime would appear on the set of ‘Bringing Out the Dead’ and start doing strange things.

“I have no idea how it got past security. Finally, the producers took some action and I haven’t seen the mime since. But it was definitely unsettling.”
