Carrie Underwood Had Doubts About Beau
CARRIE Underwood admits she initially had doubts about her hockey star boyfriend Mike Fisher.
The American Idol alum says that when she first heard about the Ottawa Senator hockey player, 29, through one of her band members, she was a little apprehensive.
“He was like, ‘I have this guy for you,’” Underwood said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday. “I was like, ‘Oh, that’s great! What does he do?’”
When Underwood was told Fisher played hockey, she asked, “Does he have his own teeth?”
“‘No,’” she says her band member replied. “‘But he’s got his really good dentist!’”
When she was told he also lived in Canada, Underwood says it was another thumbs down.
“I love Canada,” she says, “but that is a long distance relationship.”
But Underwood — who has now been dating Fisher for about a year — says their long distance relationship is doing just fine.
“We see each other more than people think we see each other,” said Carrie, who has previously dated Chace Crawford and Tony Romo. “We don’t go out like publicly. We just do our thing.
“It’s the longest relationship I’ve had. I joke and say my dogs are the longest relationship ever.”
Underwood recently denied reports she and Fisher were set to live together.
“I read something recently that a certain someone and I were moving in together,” the singer wrote on her official website. “This is beyond not true…just another example of people making stuff up out of thin air!”
Underwood goes on to say that “neither one of us would ever do that. I would never live with my boyfriend…not my style.”
