Meryl Streep Dishes on Fantastic Mr. Fox!
MERYL Streep says her character in the animated movie Fantastic Mr. Fox sounds “foxy” — because the actress had a “really bad cold” when she recorded her part.
The Hollywood superstar plays Mrs. Fox in the new film — which also stars George Clooney — and she admits it was easy to find her rasp for the role.
“I had a really bad cold when I did the voice for it,” said the 60-year-old Oscar-winner. “My voice is normally a little high and squeaky, but it was really great in this.
“I can’t take credit for it; it was H1N1 [swine flu] or something.”
Streep recently revealed she plans to take a well-earned break from Hollywood.
“Seven movies in two and a half years,” she said. “I have never worked this hard ever. I am exhausted, I’m feeling like I need a break. Promoting movies is not fun. The most fun part is making the movies. Selling a movie is more to do with wardrobe and shoes and cleaning up and being presentable.
“I haven’t ever considered giving up acting, but I do need enforced rest in my career. When each of my children was born I took a year off. It is very nice to have time to live, gather experiences and watch other people.”
