ROBBIE Williams insists he isn’t engaged — despite proposing to girlfriend Ayda Field live on Australian radio.

“Hey all,” the singer said in a short message on his official website. “We are not engaged. rob x”.

However, marriage could be on the cards for the British singer.

In a Friday interview on the UK’s BBC Radio Five Live, Robbie’s mom Jan Williams said her famous son told her of his plans to marry “a week ago” and had already bought an engagement ring.

“I’ve always wanted a daughter-in-law,” she said. “I don’t think it will be that far in the not-too-distant future, but that’s all I’m going to say on that.

“I’m very excited. I’m really pleased. They’ve been together for nearly three years, so it’s about time. She’s a great mate, as well as a lover. She’s got all the qualities that he needs in a girl. It’s a lovely match.”
