Susan Boyle’s Debut Album Tops UK Charts

SUSAN Boyle has topped the UK charts — after her album, I Dreamed A Dream, became the best-selling debut in UK chart history.
The record has shifted a 410,000 copies since its release on Monday.
Boyle, 48, shot to fame earlier this year after performing on Simon Cowell‘s UK TV show Britain’s Got Talent.
“I’m incredibly proud of Susan and delighted for her,” said Cowell. “This success couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person.
“She did it her way and made a dream come true.
“In Britain’s Got Talent she opened her mouth and the world fell in love with her, which is why her album has been the fastest selling of any woman making her debut.”
Boyle said the news was “fantastic”. Her album is also expected to be a hit in America.
“Susan Boyle’s achievement is quite phenomenal,” said Martin Talbot from the Official Charts Company. “After all of the excitement surrounding her appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, everyone expected her to make a big impact when she released her first music — but to arrive with such a bang is exceptional.”
