Adam Lambert: ‘I Used to Feel Like an Ugly Duckling’

Adam LambertADAM Lambert admits he suffered from an ugly duckling complex in his early twenties because he used to be overweight.

The American Idol runner-up, 27, says he built up his confidence by performing — and that’s why he’s outrageous.

“I suffered from a little bit of an ugly duckling complex in my early twenties,” Lambert said during an interview with the Morning Jolt’s Larry Flick on Sirius radio.

“When I was in high school I was 250 pounds and that creates some stuff…some body image stuff, some confidence issues and I got a lot of my confidence from the validation I got as a performer.”

    lol.. He never said ‘that is why’ he is outrageous. It also wasn’t in his early twenties, it was high school, you said it yourself in the next paragraph. The interview is great, it’s very honest, open and revealing to what a great, sensitive talent and person Adam is.

    You just flat out lied!! Adam never said that is why he is outrageous!! Adam gave an insightful interview to Sirius XM (on youtube) mentioned he was an ugly ducklying once but eventually learned he was beautiful from the inside out – which in fact he is!!
