MISCHA Barton admits she was “surprised” at how concerned her fans were when she was placed under psychiatric hold earlier this year.

“I think everyone was worried,” the 23-year-old told Britain’s Heat magazine. “The fans believe the stuff they read and you forget that. I was quite surprised at how concerned people were…”

“It was horrifyingly stressful, but it all came from a place of stress,” Mischa added. “There was just too much going on in my life and my health wasn’t taking precedence.

“It all came at a really bad time: I’d started getting migraines, I’d had this really complicated surgery on my wisdom teeth, and it went badly. I had to go back to get them looked at.”

Barton was then asked why she was admitted to hospital.

“I think it was that and the stress of having a new job and traveling. I was miserable,” she said. “Actresses aren’t given the time to recover after stuff like that — you’re expected to bounce back from surgery and work right away again. You’re not given the time to be human.”
