Tobey Maguire: ‘Career Gets in The Way of Family Time’

TOBEY Maguire admits he struggles to juggle his Hollywood career with being a father and husband.
The Spider-Man star — who has two children with wife Jennifer Meyer — says his works gets in the way of him spending time with his family.
“You’re working on the movie 12 to 14 hours a day, and then going home and preparing for the next day, memorizing lines, reflecting on what you did, and thinking about what you have to do the next day,” Tobey told The Boston Globe newspaper. “It wasn’t easy. Put it this way, my wife told me I wasn’t much fun to be around for those few months.”
Maguire — who stars opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman in upcoming movie Brothers — added that the intensity of filming can sometimes be tough when you have a young family.
“It’s always challenging. It does create tension [in the relationship],” he dished. “But my wife, she understands, and we both do the best we can to get through those experiences.”
