THEY seemed like the perfect couple.

But Kate Hudson and Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez are no more.

So what went wrong?

Alex, 34, sparked speculation he and Kate had called it quits after he was seen partying with various women in Miami last weekend.

According to the New York Post, the New York Yankees slugger was “acting like a single man,” partying with two pretty girls at the W Hotel Friday before eying up a hot blonde at the Armani Exchange Sunglass dinner at The Delano on Saturday.

A-Rod was also overheard telling one sexy lady, “I’m definitely single.”

“He partied with two women at the W and looked relaxed and happy. Miami is his home, so he always gets approached by girls,” a witness said.

So it’s likely that the sportsman’s roving eye played a role in his split from the Bride Wars star.

“They’ve definitely broken up,” one insider told the Post. “There’s been some drama before about his roving eye. But this isn’t the first time they’ve split up and got back together.”

Alex’s murky past

In 2004, when Alex was married to wife Cynthia, Candice Houlihan — a Boston-area hairdresser who previously worked as a stripper — told the Boston Herald that she and Rodriguez had sex on two occasions when Rodriguez was in town playing against the Boston Red Sox.

It has previously been claimed that, during 2006 and 2007, Rodriguez patronized prostitutes of madam Kristin Davis and dated Davis as well, according to employees of Davis’ call-girl agency

And in May 2007, Alex apparently spent an evening in Toronto, Canada, with a blonde woman, later identified as Joslyn Noel Morse, a longtime exotic dancer at famous strip clubs in Las Vegas.

Alex has also previously dated singer Madonna.

Kate wanted to settle down

The split will no doubt come as a blow to Hudson, who reportedly wanted to take her romance with Rodriguez to the next level.

“Kate and Alex are definitely in serious love right now. Kate will spend every free minute with him and she happily brings son, Ryder, along with her to games and on trips to be with Alex,” a source told Fox News in October.

“They are sharing one of her Los Angeles homes and his New York bachelor pad, but recently they have moved into a second home in Purchase, New York. Alex has to be close to New York for work and his daughters, Natasha and Ella, and Kate has always been fond of the city, so they compromised and got their own place near Manhattanville College.

“Kate wanted [son] Ryder to meet Alex’s daughters, and now the three kids play together. They make an adorable blended family.

“He makes plenty of time for family meals, and especially dates with Kate. [On a recent] Saturday night, they visited BLT Steak in White Plains for dinner and spent a few romantic hours together, just the two of them.

“Kate is head over heels for Alex and he feels the same way. As long as things continue to be so great, they will get married. They are practically there already with the shared homes, the children and balancing work.”

Kate’s mom, Hollywood legend Goldie Hawn, was also said to be a fan of Alex.

“Goldie more than approves of Alex,” a source said.

Kate, 30, has a son, Ryder, with ex-husband Chris Robinson.

Alex has two children with his ex-wife.
