Rachel McAdams Doesn’t Own a TV!
RACHEL McAdams doesn’t own a television.
The actress — who stars in the new Guy Ritchie movie Sherlock Holmes — says she has avoided buying a TV set because she knows she would be addicted to it.
“The problem for me is it’s like my crack — ‘Don’t put the cookies in the cupboard because you can’t not have them all the time’ — so I have a problem,” she said.
“My sister was telling me about this Hoarders show on TV.
“So I almost want to go out and get a television.”
Rachel, 31, recently admitted that she was lazy in high school.
“I would fake sick all the time to the point where I’d convince myself I was sick,” she said. “In high school I really didn’t pay attention. I took the bare minimum to get by.”

I believe that it is the PARENTS job to keep your kids in school and taking classes…if you let a movie star dictate your kids education, then you suck as a parent!
yeah, pretty much… i worked hard for everything ive got, including my husband and 2 kids, but i am not a movie star, so i must be “fugly”. i love what is important these days…

Yeah, it would be much better if she continued to lie and told the “kids” how hard she studied and how she kept her nose to the grindstone to be a success.
If “kids” are looking to movie stars for guidance in life, they’re going to have to wake up and smell the roses anyway.
I understand both points, but if you care that much about what “stars” say and do then take her advice and get rid of your TV and internet. or just get over it! get back to your kids and teach them the importance of staying in school and get off the internet. =)
Christy, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but if you’re using movie stars to teach your children about morality, hard-work an in general “a life to be emulated”, you have a screw loose.
Many movie stars are notoriously vacuous and immoral and have been since there Hollywood began. Many actresses admit they slept their way into the business (in fact some brag about it). After all, a big requirement for young actors and actresses is their looks. (Talent sometimes runs a close second, depending on the part.)
I kind of doubt that any of them are given a morality test to get a part, so please don’t use them as “heroes” for your children to emulate.

What? She should have lied and said she loved school when she didn’t? The best role models for children are the ones that actually active in their lives. Any kid that would think she/he could get what Rachel has by quitting school or doing next to nothing has bigger problems.

Considering she was co-host on TCM talking about how she loves TCM, it makes me wonder how she was watching if she doesn’t have a TV. Typical Hollywood nonense!
Christy – who ever said movie stars should be the ones encouraging kids to stay in school? I thought that was something parents should be doing.
In my experience, it is the people who are the worst parents who are the most concerned about what “stars” (movie, television, music, sports) are doing. They’re afraid their children will emulate them, because as parents, they know they have completely failed in becoming the primary role model for their children.
Rachel apparently did well enough in high school, went on to get a degree, and on to a successful career. If you think it all happened simply because she’s “hot”, you’re nuts. Not everyone’s efforts are the same, and some have the personality and/or intelligence to do very well even while being “lazy”. I know many people who worked much harder than I did in school, and in my worklife, whose end results pale in comparison.
In conclusion – Christy – get a life and stop crying about someone being more successful than you, and start focusing on becoming a role model for your children, instead of worrying about how other people’s personal lives are going to affect your children.
So does that include the internet…cuz the internet can be distracting as well…

I live in St. Thomas, ON. Rachel’s home town. I saw her a couple of days ago in front of her parent’s house. She was obviously home for Christmas. She is one fine looking woman.
