Dennis Hopper at Death’s Door?

Posted by Adam

Dennis HopperDENNIS Hopper is at death’s door after his cancer spread to his bones, according to a shocking new report.

The Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet and Hoosiers star — who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2009 — is reportedly telling pals he’s ready to die now that he’s completed his final wish by finishing filming on his TV series Crash.

“Dennis has come to grips with the fact that the end is likely near,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“He knew going into the last weeks of filming Crash that he was on borrowed time. His doctors had told him they were no longer able to contain the disease, and his condition had severely worsened.

“Dennis missed three days on the set due to dehydration, but then he came back, got back on his mark and faced the camera. Really, it was some of the best acting he’s ever done.”

Dennis has also managed to finish editing a 546-page book of photographs taken by him, said another source.

“Dennis calls the book his legacy, and he’s glad to see it completed,” confided the insider.

“He knows the end is near, but he’s still the consummate professional that he’s always been. Dennis has gotten his affairs in order and said his goodbyes.”

Dennis, is one of the most talented actors of all time. If I see a movie and he is in it, then I will watch it. Very few actors have made me want to watch everything that they are in. He is such a great actor. I always watch with such intensity and wonder what he is like in real life. Anyway, he is just damn great.

    Dennis,

You’ve been one of the greats since your unforgettable performance in “Rebel Without A Cause,” and unlike James Dean, you’ve been blessed to leave behind an incredible film legacy.

I will never forget his take on Frank Booth, his character in Blue Velvet.

He said Booth was “The greatest f*cking romantic lead of all-time! No matter what he did to her, she kept coming back for more.”

    Dennis Hopper is pure genius

  • jasper

He was an icon in the 60′s and became a master at movie making. He is still young and has the energy he has maintained since he was in his 20′s. An up and coming movie producer was his forte. I don’t want to see him go. HE really was cool and could rap to anyone joke and laugh at himself. To bad they didn’t detect it soon enough. There are alot of actors who have had trouble with this type of cancer and it is too common. Robert DeNiro fought it privately and is doing ok. More attention and public outcry is what is needed to find cures or earlier detection. They say after 40 one should be checked every year and not just for prostrate. We lose too many good people.

I always liked Dennis Hopper. I’ll probably remember him most from the classic basketball movie “Hoosiers”. His performence in that movie was outstanding. God Bless Dennis Hopper.

  • Milton

His character Frank Booth in Blue Velvet is one of my favorites. Also True Romance scene with Christopher Walken is amazing lol.
I’ve seen most of his movies and all blew me away. I saw him and cast of Easy Rider pass thru my home town of Franklin, La. during filming in my younger days. Made watching movie all the more revelant.

Good luck Dennis may you live many more productive years. God Bless Keep up the Faith Brother.

    Dennis!

You are leaving a “GREAT LEGACY” behind you. You will always be remembered.

So when the time comes Dennis! Just close your eyes and think of all you have accomplished and just ride on to the other side. You have family and friends waiting for you…

    Goodbye Dennis…

  • tony fulsom

Dennis you are my hero! I was just a young guy when I saw easy rider and will never forget it.

It’s so sad to hear that Dennis is fading out. He’s one of my favourite actors – so great at satire and suspense – and the movie world is going to be a far less entertaining place without him. Dennis, when you get where you’re headed, please keep the party going! I’ll miss you so bad.

  • Kenn B

Dennis: I’ve been with you since the 60s, through all the changes. More than any actor, that you are finally at heaven’s door shows me that life is swift and forever changing. Take care, fine human. Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and fretts his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more. Best to you in your hour of need. Kenn

    Dennis,
I enjoyed our acqaintence through school, reading lines with you in “Medic”, striking cars with your James Dean whip on H’wood and Vine, spending 3 tenuous days with you in Taos and finally meeting your present wife, Victoria Duffy.

I’ve contacted all I consider those you might have remembered at Helix High . . . including “Dusty” Rhoads. Their responses were all just great.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Dennis Hopper’s condition after recently finishing the second season of Crash on HBO. Didn’t even know his name until i started watching the series, but quickly became obsessed with the show and his character in particular. The first season of Crash was awesome, but if not for Dennis Hopper, the second season itself might have “crashed”. i enjoyed him so much in this that i wanted the series to continue…season after season…Forever.

It is wery sad. Great man.

Dennis: We never met, yet I have been mistaken for you several times over the last decade. Guess we aged the same. (See my website, howiethompsononline.com) Loved everything you have done, even Water World…My book Overtime has your spirit in there as I created one of the Assist Coaches in your memory forever. You are an inspiration and you will forever be in our hearts and minds. Thank GOD we have your legacy to watch whenever we want. God bless you, Mr. Hopper. You have always been a cool guy who truly believed in freedom, if that meant being part of the ’60s counterculture or becoming a Republican in modern-day Hollywood where that’s very unfashionable, you always had the guts to go against the grain and be yourself. The scene in “Hoosiers” when your character (the town drunk) is forced to coach a game when Gene Hackman gets suspended and the team wins and you’re running off the court, stunned with the victory, is one of the most exhilarating moments I’ve ever seen on film. You are also an underrated director with “Easy Rider,” “Colors,” “Backtrack,” your very sexy, atmospheric, underappreciated neo-noir, “The Hot Spot,” and the entertaining road picture, “Chasers.” XOXOXO from a longtime fan. Hang in there. I will pray for you and keep you in my thoughts.

Ok. Dennis Hopper has died but why do people include God in their message to loved ones that are still alive? Dennis Hopper did not honor God or want any thing to do with God who created him? So why do people mention God when speaking to friends of Dennis Hopper? By saying, “May God ease your path” .. that isn’t biblical and anyone that is true to what Dennis Hopper believed should be offended by those who would suggest that Dennis is hand in hand with God and Jesus in heaven who Dennis hated on earth. Get real people. The way is narrow that leads to life and few find it. How would you find the way? Through repentance of your sin. God resist the proud but gives grace to the humble. I would suggest you read the bible because it is the only book that is Historically correct and there have been 25,000+ archeological finds with not one disproving the bible and 100′s of prophecies that have been fulfilled. No other book comes close. But because we as humans drink iniquity like water we love our sin, We love to be proud and boast of what we have and what we have accomplished, ignoring the fact that every thing comes from God alone.

    Think about it.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% certain. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
