Elton John — American Idol-Bound??!

ELTON John is the hot favorite to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol, insiders say.
According to a report on TMZ, Idol producers are keen for the Rocket Man singer to fill the void left by Cowell, who announced earlier this week that the current season is his last.
When contacted for comment, Elton’s rep told TMZ, “He’s on holiday.”
Elton, 62, was recently hospitalized with an E.coli infection.
UPDATE. That rumor lasted about as long as a Candle in the Wind!
Elton’s rep has just released the following statement:
“He is not going to be a judge,” said the mouthpiece.
*sad face*.
