JOHN TRAVOLTA FLIES AID TO HAITI

Posted by Richard Head

John TravoltaJOHN Travolta has arranged a plane to fly aid to the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

The actor — who is a qualified pilot — acted quickly to organize the help for the Caribbean country which was devastated by the natural disaster last Tuesday, and hopes others will follow his example.

“I have arranged for a plane to take down some volunteer ministers and some supplies and some medics,” said Travolta.

“I hope that inspires others as well. It’s needed.”

Travolta is one of many A-list stars who are helping Haiti.

George Clooney
has organized the ‘Hope For Haiti’ TV fund raising event and has convinced Bono, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys to all perform.

Joining the trio of musicians are a further 40 celebrities who will take part in the event — which will be aired on over a dozen US TV networks and will be co-hosted by Clooney and Wyclef Jean, who was born in Haitian city Croix-des-Bouquets — on January 22.

Love John T. It doesn’t surprise me that he is going the aid of the Haiti people that is his good nature.Who knows better than someone that has lost a family member. Glad to see John & his family back in the swing of things. Bless you John T.

And yet another reason why I LOVE John Travolta!
We must do all that we can to help Haiti.

  • Dianne

Good for John and all ther others who are helping, but there is one name I haven’t heard mentioned yet and that is Oprah or have I missed something? Sure hope so or I will be truly disappointed in her.

  • Beth

It is great when the Hollywood crowd step up and put the rewards of their success to great humanitarian use. Thank you John. We love you and Kelly.

  • Dennis

Travolta always has been and continues to be one of the good guys in Hollywood. Or anywhere else for that matter. He and his wife have shown dignity in personal tragedy and compassion at times like this. They are truly wonderful people.

  • KATHLEEN

I AGREE WITH DIANNE. WHERE IS OPRAH? WHY IS SHE NOT HELPING OUT? SHE HAS THE MEANS TOO. I HOPE SHE HELPS THE HAITIAN PEOPLE.

  • Dennis

Dianne, the comment about Oprah was hardly necessary. I’m not a fan of hers, but I’m sure she is contributing silently to this relief effort. She probably has done more to help people than any single person in the world. I don’t think she needs you to remind her about Haiti.

Dianne, just like you i have also wondered what Oprah was doing to help out in this tradegy. I recently read someone’s response on this disaster and that person said they had heard Oprah mention just briefly that people should help. What stood out to him/her was just how brief her comment was and her lack of self-commitment. That person expressed serious dissapointment. I think she is very generous and i do hope she helps as best she can, otherwise i too would have to admit how dissapointed i would be in her. Travolta i think is wonderful and this proves it once more. Absent from the field is also Beyonce and Jay-z and other extremely rich super stars, who peope usually praise to the roof and claim how wonderful and generous they are. Where is that generosity now? I do hope i’m wrong about this and these people let their hearts outshine their stardom.

I am sure that Oprah was the first to respond to the Haiti quake. Oprah does not need to advertise what she is doing. We all know that she is a wonderful compassionate woman. God Bless you Oprah.

  • Cindy

I am very proud of John and his humanitarian flight. Our country is full of people that will go the extra mile to help out anyone in need.

  • Missy

I’m proud of all who help! However I’m sad at the response to help people in other countries over helping fellow americans who are without homes, food, or healthcare. I’m in a better position today but in the not too distant past my husband and I were affected by the economy . . both without jobs, no unemployment coming in, no insurance ( Cobra is a joke ) , and losing a rental home due to lack of income. We had no family assistance nothing… No single person came to bring food to our door, pay a bill, and provide clothing for my children. Yet we are pillars in or community and help wherever and whenever we can. We had to resort to pretty drastic measures to make it. We are the fortunate ones who were able to get jobs and keep our home but there are millions of americans ( not on drugs or alcohol ) that cannot feed themselves or their childre and were bringing our resources to a country who says we owe them??? I dont get it… We need to start at home first!!!

There is no need for all donations by stars/musicians, etc to make this public. Lots and lots of people like to remain anonymous. I certainly believe the Oprahs of the world have contributed. It is none of our business if the have/haven’t and how much of a contribution was made. You know, we should make contributions to our local Red Cross.

  • Chris

God Bless you John. You are truly an inspiration. I wish I could go help. My thoughts and prayers are with you!!

  • Melissa

Oprah’s Angel Network is donating $1 million to the American Red Cross for Haitian Relief.

Oprah’s donations are her own business on whatever she donates or not. I’s her money to do with what ever she pleases. leave her alone. Harrasing her like this, if I were her I would’nt give anything. John Travolta has always been an outstanding charitable man. He is always there ready to help. God bless him and Oprah too.

The Scientology volounteer ministers are only qualified to disseminate Scientology. They will be seeting up silly yellow tents and giving massages and free stress tests. I’m all for sending aid but leave the Scientology crap for another time.

Oprah is helping along with many it does not have to be public. The main thing is not what others are doing for Haiti but what you are doing to help.

MISSY>>>>>Really its people like you that really make this world a sad place. yes there are Americans without food and homes and health care. But there is also Shelters and food banks and Free clinics. Haiti had a natural disaster there places of shelter and assistance with food has been destroyed. I hate how you can shake your finger at the help we are giving a different country. LADY WE ARE AMERICA, Land of the free home of the brave.

I have been a longtime fan of John Travolta’s since I was about 12. I am now 45 and an RN on disability due to work injuries. I am from New Orleans and live in Baton Rouge, La. right near the LSU campus where he and his wife visited after Katrina to personally donate supplies for many sheltered here. His help meant so much to so many! I was devastated for he and Kelly and his family after the death of his son Jett and know that he will always carry Jett’s spirit with him as he continues to entertain all of us as well as give so much love to those in need. I wish I had the ability to go and offer help in Haiti personally, but have made a donation by texting to the Red Cross. I know every little bit we do adds to alot of help for those in need. Having survived the devastation of a many hurricanes and seen what it does to families and communities, I send a challenge eveyrone who has something to offer; money, supplies, time (volunteers are collecting supplies at many churches to send to Haiti) whatever you can do, the people left to deal with the terrible aftermath will appreciate you and you will be blessed in knowing you did something to help another. I thank John and Kelly for being great examples of people who have so much, giving back to those who don’t. I live in a small apartment with my beautiful 9 year old daughter; Lindsay and my husband Jeff’, who has been out of work for several months due to the economy. We as a family and a nation are struggling, but I do appreciate what I have and realize how much that is compared to those in Haiti who have lost everything. We need to learn from John and his donation, that material things mean nothing if you can’t share them with your fellow neighbors. THANK YOU JOHN! A forever friend and fan- Rhonda Carr- Foote

Not only is John a very caring person so is his entire family. I had the honor of meeting John’s brother a year ago. For many years he has been the spear head involved in an incredible project with autistic adults. I am not alone in believing the Travolta family mission. Bless!

Though you can never really know people, John Travolta seems to be an awesome guy! Though I’m sure he is still dealing with the tragic death of his son, he has found the strength and the inspiration to help others during this tragic event. I do hope all those that can help in such a capacity will follow his lead. How wonderful.

  • Lynda

How did we get off the subject and start discussing “oprah”? First of all John and his family are truly humanitarians and a very respectful and “no smutt” hollywood family!! I really like that. Secondly I do agree with missy, charity definitely does start at home!! The United States has more than they can handle with homeless, jobless, etc. people right here in their own backyard. But yet we will be the first ones to run to the aid of other foreign nations, states, while there are starving people in need right here, you don’t have to look very far. I’ve always said what country could we call on in times of war or a devasting disaster and they would come running, without question or hesitation??? You guessed it….not a one!! Don’t get me wrong I do most definitely agree that we should do whatever it takes to help the country of Haiti, whether it be food, clothing, medical personel/aid or whatever. But I think our government forgets (accidently on purpose) about people and our ancestors that helped make this country what it is(or use to be). I think that is a sad state of affairs!!! My son is not homeless (Thank God) but he has been jobless for quite awhile, finally I convinced him to go to social services and see if he could at least get food stamps, or maybe
possibly welfare….well they asked him if he had a car and yes he does.. can you take an educated guess at what the answer was??? it’s not a tough answer….He was refused because he has a car….. Does a person have to live under a bridge or on a bus bench before they qualify??? The other day I recieved an e-mail from a friend of mine and I don’t have it right here in front of me but it read something like this…What wouldhappen to a person if they crossed the cuban border illegally..possibly shot..What if a person crossed the Japanese border illegally
probably imprisoned for life (I can’t remember all the rest) but the moral of the story is what would happen if a person crossed the mexican border for california what would happen to them… theywould get a job, a house, medical /dental, welfare,a bank account, credit cards, loans. And here we are,and to get any of the above we practically have to sell our first born!! What’s wrong with this picture??? Thanks for listening.

  • Missy

Thank you for understanding my point Lynda!!

    &

Jan, I didn’t say we didn’t have to resort to using those amazing resources… HOWEVER do you know how short handed food banks are in the US? How crowded the shelters are? and how often they turn people away? and free clinics? Please tell me with no job , or car, or money for bus fare are people to get to these places???? My point was before we TAKE billions of dollars away from the states we should really worry about the millions of americans who need it. When it’s your time of need or your families you will understand.

  • bob dobbs

I like Travolta but the Scientology vulture ministers are just sent out to try and sell Scientology, and camoflauge Scientology’s crimes.

  • Jan

Shame on you all MISSY and Lynda…..Welfare isnt something you go on just for the heck of it and yes if he has a car he can sleep in it, he can drive to food banks he can look for a job. And Instead of support our government for giving aid you two are nagging about how we need it more here. Sorry but thats BS.

  • Jan

And I’m Sorry to say this but Lynda you sound racist. I am American and thats BS for you to say “if a person crossed the mexican border for california what would happen to them… theywould get a job, a house, medical /dental, welfare,a bank account, credit cards, loans” For your information People who come from different Countries Dont Qualify. Get it right Stop being an ignorant Racist. Do you know that people who werent born here there children dont even qualify for financial aid. Yeah after HS they have to find a way to pay for our overpriced colleges.

  • Missy

Jan I never said they are for the heck of it! Said we should contribute here first because americans are being denied aide in our own country , and the people fortunate enough to be blessed are helping other coutries. So many americans are struggling, cannot find work, cannot pay bills, thats why I think we need to help here as well. Shame on you for encouraging someone to sleep in their car!!! You need a reality check

  • Jan

Bravo to John Travolta for flying his own plane to Haiti, with supplies (food, etc.) and Doctors, to help the Haitian Devastation. In the face of the loss of Jett, and their own personal grief.. I find it so uplifting, that they find a spiritual and “pay it forward” obligation, to help those so much less fortunate in life’s circumstances…. My deepest and heartfelt respects …….

You really make it seem really easy together with your presentation but I to find this topic to be actually one thing that I think I’d never understand. It sort of feels too complicated and extremely large for me. I’m taking a look forward in your subsequent post, I will attempt to get the cling of it!
