ADAM Lambert knew where to turn when he needed advice on dealing with celebrity.

The American Idol runner-up says he met Madonna “for five minutes” at her New York apartment and the pair spoke about the pressures of life in the public eye.

“It was wild, I’ve looked up to her as a popstar… She came in with no make-up, yoga wear, totally Zen and her presence is very powerful, very intense,” Lambert said during his appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show Tuesday.

“The first thing I said was, ‘Oh my God!’. I said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’m just really intimidated right now’. And she said, ‘Why?’

“‘Because I love you!’ And she said, ‘So love equals intimidation for you?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, pretty much. Most of the time, I think, when I feel love, that’s the way it manifests itself at first’.

“I talked to her about celebrity and how to deal with it all. [She said], ‘Just keep your eye on the prize and put your blinders up. Don’t get sidetracked with all the extra fuss’.”

Lambert, 27, said the “biggest change” in his life since appearing on Idol was “the level of notoriety”.

“I try to go throughout my daily life just as if nothing has changed, but you don’t have much anonymity anymore, which feels really good,” he said.
