The Hollywood star — best-known for his roles in Atonement, Wanted and the Chronicles of Narnia movies — announced Tuesday that his actress wife, Anne-Marie Duff, is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

“We are happy to confirm that James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff are expecting their first child,” said Rupert Fowler, a spokesman for the couple, who met on the set of UK TV series Shameless.

Duff, 39, recently spoke of her desire to become a mom.

“I would love to have a baby,” she said in April 2009. “As soon as the big fella makes it happen, it would be brilliant.

“I’m not putting it off, but unfortunately bodies don’t work that way.

“Of course, I enjoy sex. I have nerve endings. I mean, who doesn’t?

“Well, I suppose if you have five kids you might not.”
