Russell Crowe: ‘I Didn’t Fire Sienna Miller’

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Russell CroweRUSSELL Crowe insists it wasn’t his decision to fire Sienna Miller from his new movie Robin Hood.

The actor — who plays the lead role in Ridley Scott‘s Sherwood Forest romp — says he picked Cate Blanchett over Sienna because he felt she could cope with the rigors of playing an outlaw’s woman.

“It wasn’t my call,” said Russell. “Actually, it’s more that I’m too old and fat! But Cate brings something else. The way we have changed the character, we really needed somebody who was going to be resilient in the face of all these things that are going on.

“And Cate is superb in this film. She was excellent to work with and a great partner in crime.”

Robin Hood hits theaters May 14, 2010.

Crowe, 45, recently revealed that he doesn’t wear tights in the flick.

“I don’t wear tights because according to our research they weren’t invented for another 300 years,” he said.

  • Sarah

Russell Crowe is from New Zealand, not Australia.

    • Adam

      Sarah — cheers.

  • Madge

Crowe didn’t pick Cate or fire Sienna, that was in the hands of others.

I wonder where you got this from? Crowe hasn’t done any interviews in months.

  • Gina Paris

Thank Christ Sienna Miller is not in. She’s nothing compares to the mighty Cate B! The producers of this movie has made a great choice. Can’t wait for this movie.

A guy in the jacket fired her, actually

And Ridley Scott now truely thanks God for opening his eyes and removing this golddigger from his movie.

Besides, confusing good looks with talent is a terrible problem to suffer

Good Lord, enough already. Lazy news day, huh? So why not reprint an old and inaccurate rumor to squeeze out just a wee bit more sensationalism. Trouble is …. yawn!

Hey, why not try something novel … like real reporting?

    Great pic of Russ, though.
