Mel Gibson Struggling to Quit Smoking

MEL Gibson says his biggest challenge has been giving up smoking.
The actor — who recently welcomed daughter Lucia with his Russian girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva — admits ditching the cigarettes is proving difficult.
“I’ve quit smoking again,” Gibson told Parade magazine. “It was torture. The first three days I was like an axe murderer. Day four, I’d be ready to come at you with a baseball bat. Day five, I was dangerous with a lawnmower. It is a hellish habit to break.
“My mother smoked, I think, when I was in her womb. I first had a cigarette when I was nine years old. Looking back on the year since, every decision I’ve ever made was done with a cigarette in my mouth. So I did crawl the walls for a while.
“I just don’t do anything fun anymore, but that’s dying, isn’t it? I mean, you die in stages, right? You let things go in pieces. It’s like I’m more than halfway through. If you figure out any answers, tell me. I guess when you finally get them, it’s time to go down for that eternal dirt nap.”
