Johnny Depp Defends Roman Polanski

Johnny DeppJOHNNY Depp has defended Roman Polanski.

The 46-year-old actor — who worked with the director on the movie The Ninth Gate in 1999 — believes there may be shady dealings behind the scenes concerning Polanski’s arrest for a 30-year-old statutory rape charge.

“Why now?” said Johnny. “Obviously there is something going on somewhere. Somebody has made a deal with someone. Maybe there was a little money involved, but why now?”

The Pirates of the Caribbean star also insisted the 76-year-old director was a family man.

“Roman is not a predator,” he said. “He’s 75 or 76 years old. He has got two beautiful kids, he has got a wife that he has been with for a long long time. He is not out on the street.”

Roman was taken into custody at Zurich airport last September at the request of US authorities, who are still attempting to sentence him for the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in 1977.

    Yesterday , before you took Roman Polanski’s side , you were
    very famous in the USA , and now they dislike you.
    And what for ?
    It’s only natural that so many people take Roman Polanski’s
    side.
    He’s a wonderful man , i’ve never seen an American that was a
    better man than him.
    Roman Polanski is really the only man in the whole wide world
    that gets my respect and admiration.
    And NO (before anyone asks) , i’ve never had sex with minors
    and i never will.
    I’m 47 years old , my girlfriend is 39.
    Everything is NORMAL in my life.
    Nothing is NORMAL in the lives of American people.
    They should take a good look at themselves and solve their
    own problems (and well hidden scandals) before they look at
    other people.
    But Johnny Depp , LIFE in FRANCE is a billion times BETTER
    than LIFE in ANY STATE in the U.S.A.
    You did the right thing to Europe , and you’re VERY WELCOME.

    Mr.Deep is very limited by mind and I would recommend to read the case from A-Z, otherwise he has no place to make public statements of this nature,neither Media should make them public–it is a shame on both sites.

    Dear Mr. Johnny Depp: This is my answer to WHY NOW?:

    Polanski was arrested in Switzerland.

    Apparently certain people had troubles with bearing the fact that a guy with a POLISH family name is that successful – just like many RACIST german-speaking people would.

    Don´t get me wrong. I am not claiming, that all german-speaking people are racist!

    Well I love Johnny Depp I ‘m his fan for years and I am disagree with him here, but i respect his opinion. Nobody can judge Johnny for his opinion his opinion. I understand something, why they take more than 35 years to capture Polansky. I agree that what he did was wrong because he had sex with a 13 year old girl and he has to paid it, but Johnny is asking why now?…

    What difference does it make when Polanski is brought to justice? The bottom line is that he drugged, raped and sodomized a 13-year-old girl. That’s rape-rape no matter how you look at it and it’s time for him to wipe that arrogant smug off of his face and finally pay the piper. This wasn’t one of his ‘love affairs’ it was rape and being a great film director and a Holocaust survivor doesn’t change that.

    I know that a lot of other movie stars were speaking up for Roman Polanski too, like Ewan Mcgregor, Whoopi Goldberg, and Debra Winger, who in fact is creating a petition for his release….what has the world come to? It’s very sad when people live in a world where their idols will do anything to defend someone who has committed such a terrible crime like drugging and sodomizing a 13 year-old girl. It doesn’t matter how long ago it happened it STILL happened. Johnny Depp better have a damn good excuse as to WHY, just WHY, he’s defending Roman “gets off on young girls” Polanski.

    I don't care how long it was. He was never properly sentenced and should be. How would Polanski feel if someone did the same things he did to his children.
