AEROSMITH FACED WITH LEGAL ACTION FROM STEVEN TYLER!!

Posted by Richard Head

Steven TylerSTEVEN Tyler has threatened to sue his Aerosmith bandmates.

The troubled rocker’s legal team has reportedly fired off a series of letters threatening legal action if the band’s remaining members continue with their plan to recruit a new singer in his place.

“Can you imagine the manager of the Rolling Stones calling for the replacement of Mick Jagger?” Tyler’s attorney Skip Miller said in a letter to Aerosmith manager Howard Kaufman. “Steven is Aerosmith, along with the others. He’s the guy the public knows. He’s the singer.”

The letter, obtained by Billboard magazine, also demands that Aerosmith’s management team, “Immediately cease and desist from engaging in acts and conduct to the harm and detriment of your own client, Aerosmith, and our client who is one of its members.”

“Steven Tyler does not want lawsuits,” said Miller. “We do not want to go in that direction. The direction we want is Aerosmith, with Steven Tyler, touring in Europe, touring Latin America, releasing a new album…This is the direction it’s all intended to go. It’s just amazing to me current management would be taking any other position.”

Miller also accuses Kaufman of “playing band members off against one another instead of seeking to solidify their relationships and unify them for the overall good of the band.” The Jan. 27 letter also demands a meeting of Aerosmith’s “shareholders” on Feb. 9 to address the band’s future plans, including a new album and tour in 2011 to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary.

Tyler entered entered rehab in December to seek treatment for an addiction to painkillers, which comes from years of orthopedic injuries.

UGH, damn he’s sooo ugly, UGH

Hey Jayce, you might be ugly too when you reach the age of 61. But then again, you might look good.

I love Aerosmith. I understand that Steven does not want the other guys on tour as Aerosmith without him. Yet the other guys don’t want to sit around for 2 years or however long it takes for Steven to do whatever he needs to do. I salute Steven for realizing that he has a problem and needs to do something about it. The rest of the band celebrate their 40th anniversary. And they should.
It kills me to say what I am about to say, but here I go. I think Aerosmith as we know it is over. Maybe once Steven has dealt with his issues and recovered from his surgeries, then they might get together and do something. I hope they do. But maybe Tom, Joe, Brad and Joey should find another singer, change the name and do a little something.
I really hope it doesn’t resort to legal battles and trashing all of the years (good and bad) they had together.

    Bring on the tour !

Tyler should have left when he was offered the role of Golem in the Lord of the Rings.

  • Jamz

How many bands are ruined when they try to bring in a new singer?
The only one I can think of off hand that has made the change is Journey with Arnel Pineda and it took Neil Schon what? 10 years to find him!!!

I like Tyler and Aerosmith.Been a fan since mid-seventies but come on.Comparing him to Jagger? Not even close!

Must be nice to be rich enough to actually have a doctor that will give painkillers to begin with. I’ve had a broken leg fixed 7 times in 10 years because it won’t heal, 3 spine surgeries, elbow, bone grafts and no doctor will even talk to me. And here’s steven in a fkn rehab because he had too much help. lmfao

Who cares? Aerosmith haven’t released anything worth a damn in 25 years, and they’ve always been just average live. Goodbye and good riddance!

I just think he looks like he has rocked since he was a teenager. Gotta agree with Steven, I would only go to see Aerosmith with him as the front man. Now, if they advertised as Aerosmith with Chris Cornell or some other famous crooner doing COVERS of Aerosmith, then I might have to check it out. I certainly wouldn’t buy an album like that (might as well be a tribute ablum like groups have done for Black Sabbath and Metallica). Keep rockin’ Aerosmith, the Mama Kin way!

In case Aerosmith’s memory is affected by all the drugs I purchased for them in the 70′s and 80′s with concert tickets and album sales. It did not work without the original members then and will not work now. PLEASE forgive and forget and Rock and Roll. Long live Aerosmith

Why is it that mostly haters seem to comment on this kind of topic? I’ve been a fan for ages, and I think that because we are not talking about some new band, we are talking about a band that has been successful for sooooo long, and Steven got hurt being the bands’ front guy (which led to his need for rehab), the rest of the guys should wait for him to be ready, no matter how long it takes. If he can’t tour anymore then that should be it for the band. Solo projects and stuff like that is OK while they are waiting, but come on, to replace a person like you would replace a dead battery? Its like stabbing Tyler in the back, or kicking him while he’s down. You would think they’d all be better friends than that after so many years!!!!!!!!

ot deems to me that Kaufman got a little to big for his brichec the band only hired you to get them publicty. now if things change thats fine sill have the old AEROSMITH cant change it. so drop it and learn to live your life

This is the breakthrough Rock Band of America from the 70′s and last time I seen them on tour they were dialed and put on a fantasic show and high energy music from 3 decades. They need to be kept together like a collection from a Dynasty! Addictions rip into almost everyones life at some point. They created some of the coolest mainstream events or 2 generations, We need more of this, not just a touring rehash band milking out the last bucks left in the music.

    Peace, Riffstar.com

Joe and the rest of the guys are great, but it’s the mix that makes Aerosmith. It would be like tring to bake a cake without the eggs it won’t work!!

  • mark

Some of you are saying this should not happen and the band should wait out the process and don’t let addictions break up the original line up. It already did when the repaced Joe Perry and Brad Whitford in the 80′s after a drug induced fued between Steven and Joe at the World Series of Rock in Cleveland on the Night in the Ruts tour. If things are right IN 2011 THEY CAN REUNITE FOR THE 40TH ANNIVERSERY TOUR LIKE THEY DID FOR THE dONE wITH mIRRORS TOUR.

  • Gloria

Aerosmith is not Aerosmith without STEVEN TYLER come on. All you are looking for is for Aerosmith to be no ones.

  • Jennifer

There is no Aerosmith without Steven!!!!! Joe Perry and the other band members can kiss it all goodbye if they try to replace Steven… It will never work!!!!!!! STEVEN IS AEROSMITH!!! They put on a great show and make great music… The Best!! STEVEN IS HOTT!!

Steven and Joe are know as the “Toxic Twins” I would think that they have a volitile relationship, and blowups happen from time to time…..that’s part of the nature of the A-Smith beast. So many other bands are Powderkegs on the edge of exploding….makes great music from emotional upheaval. Seems the guys have a hard time trying to figure out how to De-Pressureize, Touring does that to people. Joe once said “The Road Sucks!” it takes it’s toll on a body….Get well Stevie…..Patch things up Joe…..We all wish you well! ( A Fan From the Early 70′s )
