Oscar Nominees’ Reactions!

THE nominations are in!
So how does it feel to land an Oscar nod?
“I thought I was managing my expectations, but on hearing the news I discovered new and unfamiliar vocal tones. Perhaps I should do another musical,” said Colin Firth on being nominated as Best Actor for A Single Man.
Morgan Freeman, Colin’s rival in the best actor category, said that while he was pleased to get the nod for his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in Invictus, he was disappointed that the film did not receive a nomination for best picture.
“This is my fifth nomination and I’m more proud of that than all the rest of it I think,” he said.
“We didn’t get a best picture nomination? Well that’s a big letdown. Well there you go. That’s my problem, I thought we should get a best picture nomination. But it’s OK.”
The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner, also up for best actor, said, “This is more exhilarating than I could have ever imagined. What a tremendous honor from the academy — a blazing stamp in the passport of an artist that can never be taken away and will always be cherished.”
“I’m very happy and honored for Christopher, myself and our film. I think Tolstoy himself would have been perplexed by all this, but, Sofya his wife would have been over the moon. So in that spirit, I am too,” said Helen Mirren of her Best Actress Oscar nomination for her role as Leo Tolstoy’s wife in The Last Station.
