Vanessa Williams Devastated by Ugly Betty Axe

Vanessa WilliamsVANESSA Williams admits she and her Ugly Betty cast mates are furious the hit comedy has been given the axe.

The singer/actress says her costars were “devastated” by the news the show will go off the air at the end of its current season.

“I gotta be honest, we’re devastated. We’re sad, we’re not ready for it to end,” she said.

And Williams — who plays magazine creative director turned editor-in-chief Wilhelmina Slater in Betty — is outraged network bosses canned the show just a year after uprooting the cast and crew from Los Angeles to film in New York.

“We just moved to New York. We just got on a roll,” she said. “Our season this year has been the best we’ve ever had. But numbers and ratings were a concern. A lot of people couldn’t even find us.

“We switched — we were put on Thursday then taken off then [we were on] Fridays, now we’re finally on Wednesday nights. But we’re sad.”

    I hate it when networks keep changing a show’s timeslot. So hard for the average viewer to keep up with it!

    I’m watching Ugly Betty right now. It is absolutely shameful that this show has been given the axe.

    This is garbage. I was googling Vanessa Williams brother (who played Wilhemina in drag) and came across this. I’m pretty angry, Ugly Betty is one of my favorite shows. The network changed the time slot twice in the past year how was anyone supposed to find the show.

    I am so pissed off that Ugly Betty has been cancelled..stupid dumb ass ABC does it again..kills a perfectly good hit show because of their inability to properly keep a show in the right time slot…what?? to accomadate the crappy medical shows they have? give me a break!
    ABC YOU SUCK..! idiots!
    I just hope another network is smart enough to pick up this great show..i am upset about this for sure!
