Evangeline Lilly: ‘Paradise is Like a Prison’

Evangeline LillyEVANGELINE Lilly says filming Lost has been like a prison sentence.

The actress — who plays Kate Austen in the ABC drama –  has lived and worked in Hawaii for the six years of the castaway show but says her idyllic home is not as perfect as most would imagine.

“I think that on a certain level, living in paradise has been a little bit of a prison for me because you don’t have a lot of freedom,” said Lilly. “It’s not like working in Los Angeles where you can go out to Las Vegas for the weekend and take off and get away. When we’re on the island, we’re on the island. You’re stuck and you can’t go anywhere.”

Lost is due to come to its final conclusion soon and Lilly recently revealed that she and her costars can’t wait.

“I think a lot of us are ready for the end now,” she said. “We have Sangria Thursdays. It’s become a Season Six tradition.

“It’s the last season so It’s like the year you get out of school and everything kind of goes a bit haywire in class.”

    Yeah….gee, it sure must be like a prison in paradise with steady work for 6 years on a monumental hit show with millions of fans worldwide (and working just half the year at that), and a salary of hundreds of thousands an episode… what one is forced to give up! No wonder there were so many instances of stars getting DUI’s….they’re just so miserable!! I am one of those devoted fans, Ms. Lilly, and I doubt now that I’ll ever be able to look at you quite the same way again.
