ROSIE O’Donnell is desperate to get back with her estranged wife Kelli Carpenter, it has been claimed.

The former talk show host and Carpenter have been living apart for the past two years — and Rosie has been secretly begging Kelli to take her back.

O’Donnell made her feelings known during a brief publicity event in New York last month.

“Rosie was overcome with more than just fond feelings foe Kelli when they got together for a mutual appearance,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“While Ro thought she was getting over Kel, seeing her once again aroused the deep attraction she’s always had for her.

“During a quiet moment together when the kids were out of earshot, Ro made a heartfelt plea to Kel to consider starting their relationship over and moving back home again.

“Kel never expected Rosie’s emotional plea. Rosie cried when they spoke.”

And despite the comedienne recently hooking up with mother of six Tracy Kachtick-Anders, “Kel’s been told by friends that Rosie is only trying to use this woman to make her jealous,” the source said.

Kelli’s reaction to Rosie’s emotional outpouring? “[She] thought it sad and a bit pitiful to see her ex grovel for another chance, insisting she’s a changed woman if only she’d let Kel prove it to her,” said the insider.

“But Kel had already given Ro numerous chances.

“Kel’s fed up with Ro’s wild mood swings. They verged on emotional abuse and stemmed from bouts of depression. Also, she has had it with Ro’s insane jealousy.

“She’d often misinterpret Kel’s friendly, outgoing nature with flirting with other women.

“It seems like Rosie is trying to keep her options open — if Kelli won’t take her back, she’ll still have Tracy. It’s a juggling act.”
