Matthew Fox Quite Likes Being Isolated

MATTHEW Fox likes being isolated.
The hunky Lost actor — who plays Dr. Jack Shephard in the US drama series — grew up on a small farm in Wyoming around 60 miles away from the nearest town, but rather than feel as though he was cut off from the world he enjoyed the lifestyle.
“We didn’t have neighbors or anything like that,” said Fox, who who lived on the farm with his parents and two brothers. “I think I did feel isolated, but in a good way. That’s remained very important to me. I really need those wide open spaces and feelings of loneliness, I can hear myself better there.”
The 43-year-old star — who has two children with his wife Margherita Ronchi – finds it difficult to be in Los Angeles for long periods of time for his acting career, because it is so different from his background and the lifestyle he enjoys.
“When I’m in Los Angeles I just can’t f***ing wait to get out of it,” said Matthew, who spent months at a time living on the Hawaiian island of Oahu shooting Lost and has recently bought a house in the remote wilds of Oregon. “The traffic and everything just drives me nuts.”
