AMERICAN IDOL: RANDY JACKSON TO QUIT AS JUDGE?

Randy JacksonRANDY Jackson has told pals he’s ready to quit American Idol.

Randy — who will be the last of the original judges after Paula Abdul quit last year and Simon Cowell leaves at the end of Idol‘s current season — apparently feels he’s being shoved towards the door.

“Randy was basically told that there was a very good chance he was not going to be asked back after this season,” a show insider told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“Now that Simon’s leaving at the end of this season, they are rethinking the roles of the other judges — and that includes Randy and Kara DioGuardi.

“They are talking about going for a whole new look.

“Yes, Randy does have one more year on his contract after this one, but it’s still up to the network and the producers whether they want to renew his option.

“The way the judges’ contracts are written, they can be terminated at any time.

“The only person who had any real power contractually was Simon, and he always wanted to go year to year.

“Ellen DeGeneres has a five-year deal with FOX that extends to other productions beyond Idol, so she’s off the table. Not so with Kara and Randy. Their options can be dropped.”

Jackson was apparently furious that Cowell, 51, didn’t tell him he was planning to leave the show to launch the American edition of his UK TV talent show The X Factor.

“Randy was hurt that Simon didn’t tell him he was going before the announcement at the Television Critics’ Association convention is Pasadena,” said the source.

“He considered Simon a friend, and not sharing with him was a big letdown. After that, Randy realized things would never be the same around Idol.

“His attitude right now is, ‘You can’t fire me because I quit!’

“Randy has other projects on the outside. He’s got America’s Best Dance Crew, and he’ll still produce records. He even promotes a men’s eyewear line for Wal-Mart.

“Heck, he could even end up on X Factor with Simon and Paul. He’s not ruling that out!”

Shock jock Howard Stern is reportedly in talks to replace Cowell.

    Idol is nothing without Paula, Simon and Randy. The show is already awful without Paula, its gonna be worse without Simon. They might as well cancel the show.

    i watch idol because of Simons comments they make sense to me. i must say this has been my favourite show throughout the years and i cant imagine it without randy as well i mean i already miss paula no one can replace those three maskatears.

    They may as well cancel!! Each judge complemented each other! Paul’s had the heart Simon had the jokes and Randy stayed neutral! The show will SUCK!! WHO IS KARA AND ELLEN????
